Senior Systems Engineer (プリセールスSE) – Japan

Enterprise networking is evolving fast - Wi-Fi 7, cloud-managed infrastructure, and Zero Trust security are reshaping how Japanese enterprises build and manage their networks. NETGEAR is at the center of that shift, and we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer in Japan who wants to be at the front of it.

In this role, you will be the primary technical voice for NETGEAR in Japan - partnering with account managers, channel partners, and enterprise customers to design solutions, lead proof-of-concepts, and build the kind of trusted relationships that drive long-term business. You will work alongside a collaborative global systems engineering team, contribute directly to product development through field feedback, and play a meaningful role in expanding NETGEAR's presence across the Japan enterprise and ProAV markets.

This is not a back-office role. If you enjoy being in front of customers, solving complex technical problems, and seeing the direct impact of your work - this is the right opportunity.

Work Location

• Based in Japan (Tokyo area preferred)

• Hybrid work environment - remote with regular on-site customer visits

• Domestic travel required (approximately 25–50% depending on territory and projects)

What You Will Do

• Lead pre-sales technical consultation, solution design, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts for enterprise customers across Japan

• Design and support deployment of enterprise-grade networking solutions including Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, switching, routing, security, and cloud-managed platforms

• Present technical solutions clearly to diverse audiences - enterprise IT teams, channel partners, ProAV integrators, and senior stakeholders

• Own the technical handoff from pre-sales to post-sales, working closely with customers and NETGEAR Support on troubleshooting and escalation management

• Conduct RF planning and wireless network design using tools such as Ekahau or similar

• Design secure network architectures aligned with Zero Trust principles, including segmentation, role-based access, and secure onboarding

• Enable and support channel partners - MSPs, VARs, and distributors - through technical training, joint customer engagements, and solution guidance

• Promote cloud-managed networking capabilities including zero-touch provisioning, real-time monitoring, firmware lifecycle management, and network analytics

• Gather field insights and customer feedback and communicate them directly to Product Management to influence NETGEAR's product roadmap

• Stay current on competitive technologies, enterprise networking trends, and the evolving ProAV landscape in Japan

Required Qualifications(必須条件)

• 5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, or customer-facing technical role (e.g., プリセールスSE, 技術営業)

• Strong hands-on knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies - Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7

• Solid Layer 2/3 networking fundamentals - switching, VLANs, routing, QoS

• Strong troubleshooting skills across wired and wireless enterprise environments

• Business-level Japanese - primary language for all customer and partner engagement

• Functional English - used for internal communication and collaboration with global teams. Japanese is the priority; willingness to use both in daily work is what matters

Preferred Qualifications(歓迎条件)

• Experience with cloud-managed networking platforms such as NETGEAR Insight or comparable solutions

• Knowledge of Zero Trust security concepts - identity-based access, segmentation, secure onboarding

• Experience with RF design tools such as Ekahau or Hamina

• Industry certifications - CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent

• Experience working with channel partners, MSPs, or mid-market enterprise customers

• Familiarity with AV over IP solutions and the ProAV integration space

Who You Are

• You communicate complex technical concepts clearly - to a CTO and to a field engineer alike

• You build trust naturally with customers and partners and invest in those relationships for the long term

• You are comfortable working across a local Japan team and a global organization simultaneously

• You are organized, self-directed, and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

• You want your work to matter - and you want to see it translate directly into customer outcomes
