About this Senior Software Engineer role at Dedale Intelligence
About Dedale:
Dedale is the differentiating source of strategic intelligence in the technology space.
With a unique team of over 100 full-time research analysts & planners, Dedale leverages a network of over 10,000 market professionals to deliver on-the-ground strategic intelligence to investors and corporates, with a core focus around North America and Europe.
About the role:
You will be a core contributor on a small, high-ownership engineering team. That means working across the full stack, taking features from design to production, and being someone the team genuinely relies on, technically and otherwise.
Day to day, this includes:
Building new features on both the customer-facing platform and the internal tools our analysts use to produce intelligence.
Designing and maintaining the APIs that power our product.
Contributing to our AI initiatives, not just integrating models, but thinking carefully about where AI genuinely adds value in our product.
Participating in architecture decisions and technical discussions, not just executing them.
Reviewing code with the goal of making the whole team better, not just catching bugs.
Staying curious about new tools and approaches, and bringing that curiosity to the team.
Your first 90 days:
Week 1 — You spend your first week getting up to speed. That means onboarding sessions to understand our business, our clients, and what we are building, alongside setting up your environment and getting familiar with the codebase. You will likely ship something small by the end of the week, but the goal is to build a solid foundation, not to prove anything yet.
Weeks 2 to 4 — You start contributing independently, picking up bugs and small improvements that let you navigate the codebase with growing confidence. By the end of the month, you are working on your first real feature, customer-facing, with enough scope to be meaningful.
Days 30 to 90 — You become a full contributor. You take ownership of features, deliver them without needing hand-holding, and your code reviews are genuinely useful to the team. You have internalized our standards well enough that you are reinforcing them, not learning them. You are autonomous on most technical topics, even if some corners of the codebase are still new to you.
By day 90, we know we can give you something and trust that it will get done well.
What we are looking for:
You have solid experience building production-grade applications, enough that you know what good looks like and why it matters. You are comfortable with ambiguity, can navigate a codebase that is still evolving, and take ownership without needing to be managed.
More specifically:
Strong command of TypeScript, React, NestJS and GraphQL. You know these well enough to have opinions about them.
Experience with relational databases and data modeling (we use PostgreSQL via Prisma).
Comfortable with Docker, CI/CD, and automated testing as part of your normal workflow, not as an afterthought.
You write code for the next person who will read it, not just for today's deadline.
Fluent in English, written and spoken. Our team and documentation are in English.
Nice to have:
Experience with workflow automation tools (we use n8n extensively).
Familiarity with LLM tooling or AI integration in production contexts.
Experience in a startup or small team environment where you wore multiple hats.
Recruitment process:
Intro call with a Talent Acquisition Specialist (15-20 mins).
Interview with our Tech Lead (1h).
Case Study (take home test, 3 days to complete)
Final interview with 2 members of the leadership team and coffee chat with the team.
