About Us
42dot is a mobility AI company committed to solving mobility challenges with software and AI. As the Global Software Center of Hyundai Motor Group, 42dot pioneers the future of mobility by advancing the development of software-defined vehicles.
We develop safety-first, user-centric software-defined vehicle technologies that deliver the latest performance through continuous updates like smartphones. By advancing software and AI technology, 42dot envisions a world where everything is connected and moves autonomously through a self-managing urban transportation operating system.
Overview
Join 42dot as a Senior Platform Engineer powering the build, delivery, and cloud transition of our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform and autonomous driving tools. Working within a small senior R&D team operating across multiple time zones, you will own two equally important missions: keep our developer and CI environments world-class today, and lead the migration of our virtual vehicle development platform from local Docker deployments to a hosted, multi-tenant cloud offering tomorrow. Your work will determine how fast our engineers iterate now and how confidently our partners consume the platform as a hosted product in the years ahead.
Role and Responsibilities
Lead the migration of the MetaSDV platform from local, Docker-based developer deployments to a hosted, multi-tenant cloud offering.
Operate the cloud platform: capacity planning, SLOs, on-call rotation, cost discipline, backup and disaster recovery, partner-grade reliability.
Implement and maintain security and compliance controls: tenant isolation, audit logging, secret and certificate lifecycle, identity boundaries across developer, CI and partner-facing environments.
Own build and release engineering end-to-end: multi-layer containerized dev and CI environment, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, compiler caches (sccache and similar), multi-architecture builds (x86_64, ARM, including embedded targets and CI runners), nightly and versioned artifact publishing, offline distribution packages, container registry hygiene.
Maintain test and observability infrastructure: containerized E2E, integration and performance/load test suites; logs, metrics, traces, dashboards; hardware-in-the-loop adjacent runners (RENODE-based MCU emulation, etc.).
Provision and operate partner-facing instances of the platform: access management, environment lifecycle, and integration support during partner onboarding.
Champion developer experience and cross-team alignment: one-command local environments, reproducible builds, fast feedback loops, and ongoing collaboration with engineers, architects, and technical leads to align infrastructure with product roadmap and partner integration timelines.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of production Platform engineering / DevOps / Build / Release experience.
Hands-on production experience leading a migration of a software product from on-premise or local Docker deployments to a hosted cloud offering.
Hands-on production experience designing and operating cloud-hosted services: Kubernetes (manifests, helm, ingress, basic operators) and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Strong hands-on with Docker and multi-stage container builds in real production pipelines.
Strong hands-on with GitLab CI/CD or comparable system (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite) at the level of complex multi-stage pipelines, runners, and caching.
Linux system fluency: networking, filesystem, processes, performance debugging.
Fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Bazel or similar large-scale build systems, including migration from Cargo / CMake stacks.
Linux system fluency.
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or simulation-in-the-loop CI infrastructure (e.g. RENODE, QEMU).
Practical hands-on with formal security/compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001, or automotive cybersecurity such as UN R155 / R156).
Practical use of AI-assisted productivity tools (LLM-based pipeline drafting, agent-assisted ops, CI log triage).
Knowledge of automotive products, especially SDV OS or related platforms.
Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent).
Awareness of cloud cost optimization (budget alerts, right-sizing, reserved capacity).
Working experience with multi-site and multi-contributor teams.
