About this Senior Payroll Accountant role at Eqvilent
We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant to take ownership of payroll accounting and payroll-related operations across multiple jurisdictions. As part of the Accounting team, you will be responsible for payroll calculations for selected entities, payroll-related reconciliations, coordination of external payroll providers and service partners, and ensuring the accuracy of personnel-related expenses. You will work closely with HR, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and external providers to support a growing international workforce.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background who understands payroll processes, enjoys improving operational efficiency, and is comfortable working in a dynamic international environment where processes continue to evolve.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Calculate payroll and personnel-related expenses for assigned entities
- Coordinate payroll-related activities across multiple jurisdictions and legal entities
- Partner closely with HR, Legal, Treasury and Tax teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Perform payroll-related account reconciliations and support month-end closing activities
- Manage communication with external payroll providers, accounting firms, EORs, and other service providers
- Review and oversee payroll calculations prepared by outsourced payroll teams and external providers
- Ensure payroll data is complete, accurate, and delivered within established deadlines
- Work with payroll software and related systems to support payroll operations and reporting
- Create, document, and improve payroll processes, controls, and workflows
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process enhancements to improve operational effectiveness and scalability
- Support payroll-related audits by providing required payroll documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Resolve payroll-related issues and manage ad hoc operational requests in a timely manner
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU
- 6+ years of accounting experience, including significant exposure to payroll accounting and personnel-related expenses
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, accruals, controls, and month-end close processes
- Experience working with external payroll providers, outsourced teams, EORs and other service providers
- General understanding of payroll-related tax and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions. Familiarity with payroll requirements in the UAE and UK is an advantage; willingness to learn and navigate country-specific requirements is essential
- Proven ability to establish, streamline, and improve processes in a fast-growing or evolving environment
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Experience working with payroll software, EOR platforms and ERP systems (e.g. Oracle NetSuite)
- Team player with a proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
