About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mobile Engineer with deep native Android expertise to build high-quality, scalable, and secure applications. You will play a key role in designing application architecture, implementing new features, improving performance, and mentoring engineers, while collaborating closely with product, design, backend, QA, and iOS teams.
The ideal candidate has strong expertise in native Android development and modern Kotlin-based architecture, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, product-focused environment with a strong sense of ownership.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality native Android applications.
• Build scalable and maintainable solutions using modern Android architecture.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to system architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and iOS teams.
• Write clean, testable, and reusable code following best engineering practices.
• Optimize application performance, memory usage, startup time, and battery consumption.
• Ensure application stability through unit testing, UI testing, and code reviews.
• Integrate RESTful APIs and collaborate with backend teams on API design.
• Mentor junior developers and promote engineering excellence.
• Participate in Agile development processes and continuous delivery practices.
• Drive technical improvements and help establish engineering standards.
Requirements
Programming Languages
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin.
• Good knowledge of Java.
• Familiarity with Swift / SwiftUI and native iOS development concepts.
Android Development
• Strong experience with native Android development.
• Deep understanding of the Android SDK and Jetpack libraries.
• Excellent knowledge of the Android application lifecycle and platform internals.
• Strong understanding of Android components: Activities, Fragments, Services, Broadcast Receivers, and Content Providers.
Modern Android Development
• Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Kotlin Flow.
• WorkManager, Navigation Component, and ViewModel.
• Dependency Injection (Hilt / Dagger preferred).
Architecture
• Strong understanding of MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture.
• Modular architecture, SOLID principles, and separation of concerns.
System Design
• Experience designing scalable mobile architectures.
• Ability to make architectural decisions and evaluate trade-offs.
• Understanding of application modularization and feature separation.
Networking
• REST APIs, JSON serialization, and backend integration.
• Error handling, authentication flows, and network caching.
Performance
• Strong understanding of UI rendering performance and memory management.
• Threading and concurrency, startup optimization, and battery optimization.
• ANR prevention, plus performance profiling and debugging.
Concurrency
• Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, and Dispatchers.
• Structured concurrency, threading models, and background processing.
Testing
• Unit testing, UI testing, and integration testing.
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) and mocking frameworks.
Development Practices
• Git, pull request workflows, and code reviews.
• CI-friendly development practices and Agile / Scrum methodologies.
Soft Skills
• Strong ownership mentality and an execution-focused mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Comfortable in fast-moving, startup-like environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Nice to Have
• Native iOS development experience using Swift / SwiftUI.
• Experience building FinTech or financial applications.
• Experience with offline-first applications.
• Local persistence technologies such as Room, SQLite, and DataStore.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with analytics platforms (Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, CleverTap, etc.).
• Experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and feature flags.
• Experience implementing mobile security best practices, including:
– Encrypted local storage.
– SSL certificate pinning.
– Secure authentication and authorization flows.
– Secure handling of sensitive user data.
– Android Keystore usage.
Preferred Experience
• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Experience delivering production applications at scale.
• Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
• Proven ability to own features from design through production release.

Location & Work Model
This is an on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt. Our team works primarily from the office to stay closely aligned in a fast-moving product environment, with up to 13 work-from-home days per quarter (roughly one day per week). Please apply only if you are able to work on-site in Cairo on this basis.
