πŸ‘‹ About Us

NALA is building Payments for the Next Billion. Faster, smarter, and fairer transfers for everyone. Since 2022, we've grown our business 120x, grown the team from 9 to 150+, raised $50M+ from top-tier investors, and were named to the Forbes Fintech 50 in 2025.

  • Rafiki, our B2B payments infrastructure, is powering global payments.

Our team includes alumni from Wise, Stripe, Monzo, Revolut, and CashApp β€” operators who’ve scaled world-class products. We act with urgency, think deeply, and put our customers first always.

At NALA, this isn’t just a job. It’s ownership, impact, and the chance to change global payments forever.

Join us in building Payments for the Next Billion.

πŸ™Œ Your Mission

As the Senior FX Sales & Trading, your mission is to transform Rafiki’s FX capabilities into a competitive market offering. You will develop commercial and operational strategies for FX sales and active B2B market-making.

You will bridge the gap between complex frontier market liquidity (Africa & Asia) and the needs of our institutional B2B clients, ensuring Rafiki provides the best pricing, deepest liquidity, and most reliable execution in the market.

🎯 Your Responsibilities in this Role

  • Drive Rafiki FX Sales: Develop and execute the commercial strategy to sell FX services to B2B clients, ensuring Rafiki is the preferred partner for frontier market liquidity.
  • P&L Ownership: Take full responsibility for the FX sales margin. Optimize the spread between our liquidity sources (banks/parallel markets) and our B2B client pricing.
  • Product Evolution: Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to automate Rafiki’s pricing engines and trading workflows, ensuring they are robust enough for high-volume B2B traffic.
  • Risk & Exposure Management: Design and oversee sophisticated hedging strategies to protect the business against volatility in frontier markets while maintaining competitive client rates.
  • Market Intelligence: Act as the internal and external "voice of the market," providing deep-dive insights on parallel vs. official rates to inform both our product roadmap and our clients' trading decisions.

πŸ”₯ Must-have requirements

  • Senior Experience: 7+ years in FX trading or FX sales, with a proven track record in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial Hunter Mindset: Deep experience in B2B/Institutional Sales. You know how to package FX liquidity as a product and win over sophisticated and rate sensitive clients.
  • Frontier Market Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of African FX markets, including the nuances of navigating illiquid currencies and parallel market dynamics.
  • P&L Management: Experience owning a revenue target and managing the risk/reward balance of a trading book.
  • Extreme Ownership: A startup-ready mentality. You don’t wait for instructions; you identify market gaps and build the infrastructure to fill them.

πŸ’ͺ Nice to have requirements

  • Deep Network: An existing "rolodex" of liquidity providers, central bank contacts, and potential B2B clients across Africa and Asia.
  • Tech-Forward: Experience with automated trading systems, API-driven FX pricing, or stablecoin/crypto-settlement (USDC/USDT) as a liquidity tool.
  • Advanced Certification: CFA, CAIA, or a Master’s degree in a quantitative financial field.

About NALA

We’re on a mission to increase economic opportunities for Africans across the globe, and we’re keen to hear from capable, ambitious, and creative people who want to help bring this vision to fruition. πŸš€

Our first product was a mobile money service in East Africa, which gained over 2,000 customers. Now we’ve set our sights on building a bank for the African diaspora across the globe and our initial focus is on remittances. We’re currently launching an international money transfer service for African living overseas, who send money home to their loved ones.

We’re backed by: Balderton Capital, Y- Combinator, Accel Partners, and several incredible fintech angel investors including the founders of Monzo, Comply Advantage, Luno, and Simple.

What we are currently building πŸš€

We want to build a bank for the African diaspora globally, initially by starting with a cross-border money transfer service. We believe this is critical to solve to channel economic value back to the African continent. We believe using remittances is one of the best forms of true economic development and we would like to use it as an entry point before building new layers of financial services for the African diaspora.

At a starting point we are excited about:

  • Building Remittances 2.0 - we know remittance fees are a race to the bottom and believe the current model has some things that need to be changed.
  • Enabling credit - for senders sending money back to Africa so they don’t have to wait till they get their paycheck at the end of the month.
  • Building infrastructure - enabling payments infrastructure locally in Africa.
  • Building a community of African diaspora helping us build an incredible product together.
