About this Seed Sampler role at TopFloor
Our client, a company specializing in agricultural chemicals and seeds, is looking to hire Seed Samplers to become part of their vibrant operations team. The Seed Sampler ensures that all seed lots are processed, stored, or received by the organization and are sampled accurately in accordance with approved quality, regulatory and certification standards. The role supports the Quality Department by providing reliable, representative samples used for laboratory testing, enabling decisions related to seed quality, release, certification and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect seed samples from various locations according to established standards and protocols.
- Ensure proper techniques are employed to maintain sample integrity and prevent contamination.
- Document and label each sample accurately, maintaining detailed records of the sampling process.
- Perform preliminary assessments on collected samples to identify visible issues or abnormalities.
- Deliver samples to the laboratory for further testing as per scheduled timelines.
- Collaborate closely with other team members, Seed Analysts, and agronomists to coordinate sampling procedures.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on sampling techniques and industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to sampling activities.
- Provide feedback on sampling techniques and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Maintain equipment and tools used in the sampling process, ensuring they are clean and functional.
Requirements
- Diploma in Agriculture or a related field is an advantage.
- Previous experience in seed sampling or agricultural fieldwork is preferred.
- Availability to work on a short-term, seasonal basis.
- Membership with Agricultural Institute of Zambia (AIZ)
- Basic understanding of seed biology and sampling protocols.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work in various environmental conditions.
- Willingness to travel to different farming locations for sample collection.
