The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Scheduler to support our growing oil trading business. This
role is responsible for the end-to-end coordination of physical oil movements, ensuring timely and efficient
execution of trades while minimizing operational risk.
The successful candidate will work closely with traders, counterparties, logistics providers, terminals, and shipping
companies to ensure seamless execution of supply and trading activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage nominations, confirmations, inventory tracking, and movement reconciliation across multiple
- transportation systems.
- Monitor transportation constraints, apportionment, outages, and operational disruptions while developing
- contingency plans to minimize impacts.
- Maintain accurate inventory positions and supply-demand balances.
- Reconcile scheduled movements against actual receipts and deliveries.
- Work closely with traders to ensure commercial deals are accurately reflected in scheduling and logistics
- systems.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with pipeline operators, counterparties, terminals, producers, and
- refiners.
- Support month-end close processes, reporting requirements, and logistics performance tracking.
Requirements
Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience:
- Circa 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in crude oil operations (preferably scheduling on major Canadian pipelines (Keystone, Enbridge, TMX) would be advantageous
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject preferred
- Skills:
- Solid understanding of shipping logistics, trade documentation, and international crude oil trade practices.
- Strong understanding of:
- Physical oil markets (crude and/or products)
- Supply chains: shipping, pipelines, terminals, storage
- Trade lifecycle and operational processes
- Familiarity with Incoterms, contracts, and demurrage processes
- Experience with trading/operations systems (e.g., Endur, Allegro, RightAngle, SAP) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Power Query, complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting, with the ability to automate workflows and manage large operational datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Proactive communicator, easily able to disperse complex information into digestible formats to a range of stakeholders.
- Strong teamwork and organizational abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
