The Sales Engineer serves as the technical expert in the sales process, clarifying product capabilities and explaining complex features to potential customers. They work closely with sales representatives to address technical questions, support product demonstrations, and lead Proof of Value engagements. Sales Engineers must have a strong understanding of the product, the ability to translate technical concepts into business value, and excellent communication skills. They play a crucial role in helping customers understand how our products solve their specific challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Product Knowledge:
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of all product features and functionalities
- Articulate product capabilities, limitations, and use cases to prospects
- Explain standard use case scenarios effectively
- Technical Skills:
- Troubleshoot and research basic technical problems
- Handle technical objections and concerns from prospects
- Provide accurate product demonstrations and proofs of value
- Sales Support:
- Understand and follow typical sales strategies
- Contribute to the sales process by identifying technical pain points
- Effectively translate customer needs into product solutions
- Participate in Proofs of Value (POVs) following established scripts and guidelines
- Customer Engagement:
- Build rapport with prospects throughout the sales cycle
- Demonstrate active listening skills to gather key information during customer interactions
- Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Professional Development:
- Show interest in personal growth and development
- Attend training sessions and seek additional learning resources
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas when asked
- Competitive Knowledge:
- Articulate core differentiators versus top 2 competitors
- Business Acumen:
- Understand basic concepts of sales processes and stratification
- Recognize how product features translate into business value for customers
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 year degree or technical degree preferred
- Experience with Gmail and Google Docs
- Experience with MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Experience with web browsers (Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
- 1 year of presales experience or equivalent combination of technical and sales experience
- Strong technical background in cybersecurity or related field
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and sales methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Highly organized and result-oriented
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Can demonstrate technical troubleshooting and analysis ability
- Can demonstrate integrity, accountability, respect and commitment
- Strong collaborative and teamwork skills
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Fluent in Japanese
