Safety Manager
Location: Liberia, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Our client, a leading manufacturing company located in Liberia, Costa Rica, is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead the site's Occupational Health and Safety strategy. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional with proven experience in manufacturing environments who is passionate about developing a strong safety culture and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve the site's Occupational Health and Safety Management System in compliance with ISO 45001, corporate standards, and local regulations.
- Develop and execute the annual Occupational Health and Safety Plan.
- Conduct and update risk assessments and ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate safety requirements.
- Lead incident investigations, injury and illness prevention initiatives, and emergency preparedness programs.
- Develop and monitor safety KPIs, analyze trends, and implement improvement strategies.
- Lead internal audits and ensure readiness for external audits.
- Manage the site's safety budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide safety training and coaching for employees, contractors, and leaders across the organization.
- Promote a strong safety culture by partnering with plant leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Oversee fire prevention, contractor safety, machinery safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and other critical safety programs.
- Lead and develop a team of safety professionals.

Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of Occupational Health and Safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership experience managing technical or safety teams.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Experience with risk assessments, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, contractor management, fire protection, machinery safety, confined spaces, work at heights, and incident investigations.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
