QA Engineer - VoIP / SBC / Gateway Testing
Sangoma is looking for a QA Engineer with hands-on experience in VoIP and telecom testing to validate our NSC/SBC and Vega Gateway solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for functional, regression, interoperability, system, and performance testing while ensuring the quality and reliability of our telecom products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
- Validate SIP/ISDN signaling, VoIP call flows, media handling, SBC, and gateway features.
- Perform functional, regression, interoperability, end-to-end, system, and release testing.
- Analyze SIP traces, packet captures, and system logs to identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Validate SIP trunking, PSTN connectivity, codec negotiation, DTMF, T.38 Fax, and call routing.
- Collaborate with Development, Product Management, and Support teams to investigate, reproduce, and verify reported defects.
- Ensure product quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
Must-Have Skills
- 3+ years of QA experience in Telecom, VoIP, Networking, or Unified Communications.
- Strong understanding of SIP and ISDN call flows and signaling.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, UDP, NAT, VLAN, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience testing SIP Trunks, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), Media Gateways, or IP-PBX systems.
- Experience creating and executing manual functional and regression test cases.
- Hands-on experience with Linux OS, Jira, and debugging tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Sangoma NSC/SBC and Vega Gateway products.
- Hands-on experience with SIPp and SIP phones.
- Knowledge of telecom technologies, including SIP Trunking, PSTN, PRI, FXO/FXS, and T.38 Fax.
- Experience working in cloud or virtual telecom environments.
- Basic scripting or test automation using Python or Shell scripting is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- 3-4+ years of experience in QA for VoIP, Telecom, Networking, or Unified Communications environments.
