Job Overview:

The Project Manager (Recycling/Shipbuilding) will lead and oversee various projects related to ship recycling and shipbuilding in Malaysia. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a comprehensive understanding of maritime operations and environmental regulations to ensure that projects are delivered successfully and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Manage and coordinate all phases of ship recycling and building projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, regulatory bodies, and project teams to ensure streamlined communication and project alignment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local and international environmental regulations regarding ship recycling and construction practices.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, oversee procurement processes, and manage project teams to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks within projects and develop mitigation strategies to address these risks proactively.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of project progress, financials, and compliance, and prepare regular update reports for senior management.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the shipbuilding or ship recycling industry.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with multicultural teams and suppliers.

Desirable Traits:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with sustainability practices in shipbuilding or recycling.
