About this Project Coordinator, Construction role at UMI Stone/Opustone
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Coordinator – Construction is responsible for supporting the successful execution of branch expansions, new location openings, relocations, and facility improvement projects across the organization. This role serves as a key point of coordination among internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and leadership teams to help ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with company standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate project activities related to branch expansions, relocations, new location openings, and facility improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of project schedules, timelines, documentation, meeting notes, and action items.
- Coordinate communication between Operations, Sales, IT, Finance, Facilities, and other cross-functional teams to support project execution.
- Schedule meetings, track project milestones, and follow up on outstanding tasks to help ensure project deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers regarding project schedules, deliverables, and documentation.
- Assist with tracking project budgets, purchase requests, invoices, and project-related expenses.
- Monitor project progress and escalate potential risks, delays, or issues to project leadership as appropriate.
- Support operational readiness activities to help ensure new and relocated facilities are prepared for successful openings.
- Prepare regular project status reports, dashboards, and documentation for leadership review.
- Maintain organized project files, records, and reporting to support consistency across multiple projects.
- Assist with post-project reviews by documenting lessons learned and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Support additional strategic initiatives and operational projects as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–4 years of project coordination, project administration, operations, construction, facilities, or related experience.
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting branch expansions, retail openings, relocations, construction projects, or facility improvement initiatives.
- Experience working within construction, building products, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries.
- Project Management certification (CAPM) or progress toward certification is a plus.
