About this Program Associate role at Brilliant Corners

Brilliant Corners · Onsite · San Diego, California, United States

Location: San Diego

Salary: $27.88 per hour

Organization Overview
Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California’s most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. We implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans’ services, and health care sectors.

In short, we do good work.

We have offices statewide with a staff of passionate people. While we are growing rapidly, we are also selective: We’re seeking inspired, talented people who want to be part of a team effecting profound change and who have fun doing it.

Department Summary

The San Diego Flexible Housing Pool (FHP) is a countywide program led by Brilliant Corners in partnership with the Regional Taskforce on Homelessness (RTFH), Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (MCPs), and Behavioral Health Services Department (BHS). FHP has two distinct branches: 1) the general FHP program, which serves the broader community and is funded by RTFH and 2) the MCP/BHS program, which serves Medi-Cal members experiencing homelessness who also live with serious mental illness (SMI) or substance use disorder (SUD) and is funded by MCPs and BHS. Through housing navigation, landlord engagement, rental subsidies, and tenancy supports, FHP connects people to stable housing while offering the supports needed to prevent returns to homelessness. By braiding multiple funding streams, including HHAP, ERF, CalAIM, BHSA, and others, FHP is designed to scale rapidly and nimbly to support the community’s most vulnerable residents.

About Brilliant Corners

A home of one’s own: it’s core to what it means to be human. Very few people choose to live on the street, in a shelter or institution. For many, supportive housing – affordability plus supportive services – is key to finding and maintaining a home.

At Brilliant Corners, we’ve seen amazing things happen when people embrace this Housing First mindset and a commitment to align the right housing and supportive service resources. With public and private partners, we’re building new, scalable supportive housing platforms to rapidly house thousands of formerly homeless people and those at risk of homelessness each year. We’ve also partnered with state and local agencies to create community-based housing for over 1,000 previously institutionalized Californians with developmental disabilities.

We are honored to be part of this collaborative work – meeting each person where they are, advocating for transformative systems change, aligning existing and new resources for better results. We embrace the challenge of scaling supportive housing solutions, confident that together, we can bring about the better world our hearts know is possible.

Sincerely,

William F. Pickel
