Fam (previously FamPay) is India's first payments app for everyone above 11. FamApp helps make online and offline payments through UPI and FamCard. We are on a mission to raise a new, financially aware generation, and drive 250 million+ youngest users in India to kickstart their financial journey early in their lives. Founded in 2019 by IIT Roorkee alumni, Fam is backed by investors like Elevation Capital, Y-Combinator, Peak XV (Sequoia Capital) India, Venture Highway, Global Founder's Capital, and angels including Kunal Shah and Amrish Rao

As our People & Culture Head, you'll partner with leaders to build high-performing teams, shape an exceptional employee experience, and create the people practices that help Fam scale. From hiring exceptional talent to strengthening our culture and enabling our people to do their best work, you'll play a key role in building the company behind the product.

Must-Haves
- Hiring: Hands-on experience building high-functioning tech, product, design, and non-tech teams—personally sourced, interviewed, and closed candidates across these functions.
- HRBP Experience: Partnered with leadership on org structure, retention strategies, and comp planning while embedding company culture into hiring and performance decisions.
- Empathy + Business Acumen: Genuinely cares about teams well-being and acts as a trusted advisor, connects people decisions to business outcomes (retention impact, hiring ROI, etc.).
- First-Principles Thinking & Problem Solving: Demonstrates a structured approach to solving problems by breaking them down into their core components, asking the right clarifying questions, considering the business context, and arriving at thoughtful, practical solutions.
- Strategic Mindset: Understands how to position the company to attract top talent, thinks ahead about evolving talent needs, and makes decisions with a long-term perspective aligned to business goals.
- Long-Term Growth Potential: Sees themselves leading the People function for the next 4-5 years, invested in building something meaningful long-term, and can evolve and grow with Fam's journey.
- Strong Network: Has built genuine relationships and credibility in the ecosystem—people know them, trust them, and they can leverage these connections to attract quality candidates and leaders to Fam.
- Team Player: Experience working with a team of minimum 5 members
- Tools: Hands on worked with Keka, Lever, Google Sheets, Equitylist.
- People Operations: Owned the full employee experience and built scalable HR systems and processes.
- AI-Native Mindset: Demonstrates an understanding of what it takes to build an AI-native organization, proactively identifies opportunities where AI can create leverage across functions, and can drive adoption through thoughtful change management and cross-functional collaboration
- Top Talent Hunter: Build the best functioning teams, ensuring we have the right people in the right roles
- Strategic Partner to the Business: Work closely with business leaders to anticipate organizational needs, identify talent risks, and build people strategies that enable the next stage of growth. Be the person leaders turn to before people problems arise, not after.
- Drive Talent Decisions Beyond Hiring: Bring a strong talent lens to business discussions by leveraging deep experience in Tech, Product, and Design hiring. Influence org design, team structures, succession planning, and workforce strategy through an understanding of what great talent looks like.
- Build for Scale: Partner with People Ops to ensure employee lifecycle processes, policies, and programs are designed for scale. While not directly working on operations, bring best-practice thinking and challenge the status quo to create exceptional employee experiences.
- Shape People Infrastructure: Work closely with Legal to draft, review, and evolve people policies that balance compliance with a high-trust culture. Ensure policies are practical, scalable, and aligned with the company's growth trajectory.
- Workforce Planning & Business Forecasting: Partner with Finance and business leaders on headcount planning, hiring forecasts, organisational investments, and future workforce requirements. Help leaders make informed decisions through people and business insights.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coach leaders on performance, talent decisions, team effectiveness, and organizational challenges. Enable managers to build high-performing, engaged teams rather than relying on HR to solve people problems for them.
- Shape the people strategy for one of India's fastest-growing fintech companies and influence how Fam scales.
- Partner closely with founders and business leaders to build a high-performance, people-first culture.
- Lead end-to-end people initiatives with the autonomy to drive meaningful organizational impact.
