About this Payroll Compliance Supervisor role at Anders
The Audit and Assurance Department of one of the fastest-growing accounting firms in the country is seeking a Payroll Compliance Supervisor who is motivated to learn, excited to collaborate and passionate about delivering outstanding results. In this role, you will lead and perform payroll compliance examinations to help ensure employers are complying with collective bargaining agreements and benefit fund reporting requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, analytical problem solver, and adaptable leader who enjoys working with data and developing staff. Advanced Excel skills and the ability to interpret complex information are critical for success. Experience in payroll compliance auditing, payroll, accounting, auditing, union benefits, or related compliance functions is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for individuals with transferable experience and leadership potential.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and conduct training for staff.
- Mentor, coach, and develop payroll compliance staff, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
- Reviews work papers of Associates and Senior Associates.
- Utilize advanced Excel and data analysis techniques to identify trends, exceptions, and potential reporting discrepancies.
- Manage multiple examinations and staff assignments while ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely completion.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, processes, and technology usage within the payroll compliance practice.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with employers, benefit fund representatives, administrators, and legal counsel.
- Conduct fieldwork at the employer’s location and/or remotely; which includes obtaining required documents; analyzing the information and communicating issues with the employer.
- Compile various audit reports for clients and/or Manager or Partner.
- Create final reports showing calculated contributions for the audit discrepancies.
- Confidently communicate with clients, fund administrators and fund attorneys.
What We’re Looking For:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliations, and working with large datasets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, develop, and motivate staff.
- Highly adaptable and comfortable working in changing environments and unique client situations.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
- Professional presence and strong client relationship skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience reviewing payroll records, labor agreements, accounting records, or compliance documentation is preferred.
- Ability to learn and interpret collective bargaining agreements and benefit fund reporting requirements.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in payroll compliance auditing, payroll administration, accounting, auditing, consulting, benefit fund administration, compliance functions, or related fields.
- Prior supervisory, project management, or team leadership experience preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Anders reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and firm business practices.
