The Partnership Account Manager – Financial Inclusion & Banking Partnerships will manage and grow a portfolio of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), banks, NBFCs, and other financial sector partners across India.

This role serves as a trusted advisor to partner institutions, helping them successfully design, implement, and scale water and sanitation financing programs. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of relationship management, financial inclusion, institutional partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.

This position is ideal for professionals who have worked in banking, microfinance, development finance, rural finance, livelihood programs, financial inclusion, or government-linked initiatives and are passionate about creating measurable social impact at scale.

What You’ll do 

Account Management 

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned MFI and banking partners, fostering long-term success and satisfaction. 
  • Implement partner-facing service delivery and projects, ensuring alignment with agreed priorities and business plans. 
  • Maintain high-quality data and reporting accuracy to support decision-making and verify program outcomes. 
  • Nurture strong working relationships that support partner performance and the achievement of impact goals. 

Business Development 

  • Strengthen and expand relationships with key decision-makers within your partner portfolio and/or geographic area. 
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities to grow Water.org’s footprint within the financial sector, including new partnerships, product innovations, or expanded financing programs. 
  • Support strategy execution and pipeline development for Water.org’s products and services. 

Business Metrics & Reporting 

  • Deliver timely, accurate reporting and analysis of account performance, including program execution, funding utilization, and projected impact. 
  • Translate performance metrics into insights and recommendations for internal stakeholders and partners.

Requirements

What Makes you a great fit 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.  
  • 5+ years of experience managing institutional relationships, partnerships, accounts, or business development initiatives.
  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Banking
    • Microfinance Institutions (MFIs)
    • NBFCs
    • Financial Inclusion
    • MSME Finance
    • Development Finance
    • Rural Finance
    • Livelihood Programs
    • WASH
  • Demonstrated success in expanding/scaling business partnerships, or business contracts.  
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and advisory skills.  
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. 

Travel Requirement 

  • Up to 25% of domestic and international travel
