Role Summary
Middleburg Surgery Center is seeking a dependable detail-oriented Operating Room Technician to join our surgical services team. The Operating Room Technician is responsible for preparing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures according to physician preference cards while maintaining a sterile environment throughout each case. Working closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, this role supports safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift
What You'll Do
Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to physician preference cards.
Set up and maintain sterile fields using proper aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures.
Arrange instruments and supplies to support efficient surgical workflow.
Inspect equipment and instruments to ensure they are functioning properly before each procedure.
Assist with operating room setup, patient positioning, and room turnover between cases.
Maintain adequate inventory of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
Clean, package, sterilize, and store surgical instruments following established protocols.
Update and maintain surgeon preference cards and assist with inventory management.
Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team.
Follow all infection prevention, patient safety, quality improvement, and facility policies.
Respond appropriately to emergency situations and assist with other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Completion of an Operating Room Technician training program, Surgical Technologist program, or equivalent operating room training required.
Current BLS certification required.
Surgical Technologist certification preferred or required based on applicable state and facility guidelines.
Previous operating room or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.
Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly, up to 40 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
