Junior Road Engineer, Shop Drawings
Job Purpose:
The Junior Road Engineer, Shop Drawings, shall support the preparation, checking,
coordination, and revision of road shop drawings for UAE infrastructure projects.
The role requires good AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge, a basic understanding of road design
and construction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare road and road furniture shop drawings.
2. Prepare road layout drawings, setting out drawings, grading drawings, longitudinal
profiles, cross sections, kerb layouts, pavement drawings, and road marking drawings.
3. Review IFC drawings and identify the mismatches, conflicts, and issues.
4. Extract levels, coordinates, o sets, chainages, widths, slopes, and setting out
information from the design drawings and models.
5. Prepare basic Civil 3D outputs, including alignments, profiles, surfaces, corridors, cross
sections, and quantity take-o support.
6. Coordinate road drawings with utilities, drainage, structures, tra ic diversions, street
lighting, landscape, and existing services as required.
7. Identify basic clashes or inconsistencies such as wrong levels, missing dimensions,
grading conflicts, kerb conflicts, utility cover level issues, and road tie-in issues.
8. Check road grading against drainage requirements to avoid ponding, reverse slopes, and
low point issues.
9. Coordinate with utility engineers to ensure manhole covers, gullies, catch basins, valve
chambers, and duct crossings match proposed road levels.
10. Support the Senior Road Engineer in preparing drawing trackers, submission status
updates, and weekly progress reports.
11. Highlight any missing information, conflicting details, or unclear design items to the
Senior Road Engineer immediately.
Required Technical Knowledge:
1. Basic road geometry and road shop drawing preparation.
2. Road layouts, profiles, cross sections, grading, kerbs, footpaths, cycle tracks, medians,
and tie-ins.
3. Pavement layers, road levels, slopes, camber, crossfall, and longitudinal gradient.
4. Basic drainage interface, including gullies, catch basins, manholes, cover levels, and
road low points.
5. Basic utility coordination and understanding of utility crossings below roads.
6. Basic knowledge of road signage, road markings, tra ic signs, and temporary diversion
layouts.
7. Ability to read IFC drawings, standard details, specifications, and consultant comments.
8. Understanding of construction sequence, site access, and constructability constraints.

AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Excel
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
2. 1 to 3 years of experience in road design, road shop drawings, infrastructure drafting, or
technical o ice work.
3. Fresh graduates may be considered only if they have strong AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and
infrastructure knowledge
