IT Specialist

Location: Hybrid (Denver, CO)

Type: Full-Time

Clearance: Must pass FBI fingerprint and background check in multiple states

Overview

We are seeking an IT Specialist to own GovWorx's day-to-day IT infrastructure and operations. This is a hands-on individual contributor role responsible for endpoint management, IT systems administration, and employee technology support as GovWorx scales.

The ideal candidate is comfortable owning infrastructure end-to-end, from device provisioning to platform administration, and enjoys solving problems in an environment with limited existing documentation. You will work alongside others security resources on shared systems (e.g., device compliance enforcement, identity provisioning) without owning security architecture or incident response.

Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments is a plus. You will play a supporting role in maintaining the reliability and security hygiene of systems that public safety professionals depend on every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own hardware and software lifecycle management: procurement, deployment, inventory, and secure decommissioning.

  • Administer endpoint management platforms (Jamf for macOS, Intune for Windows): configuration profiles, provisioning, patching, and compliance enforcement, in coordination with security-defined baselines.

  • Execute day-to-day identity lifecycle tasks, such as user provisioning/deprovisioning, group and license management, within the IAM framework (Okta) per policy.

  • Maintain and optimize core SaaS, collaboration, and productivity platforms (email, file storage, communication tools) for reliability and scalability.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee IT support and troubleshooting; triage and resolve hardware, software, and access issues.

  • Maintain and regularly test backup, continuity, and disaster recovery processes for core IT systems.

  • Maintain system diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and internal knowledge articles for IT operations.

  • Manage relationships and renewals with IT vendors and SaaS providers; track licensing and spend.

  • Support new-hire onboarding and offboarding logistics: equipment setup, account provisioning, and access removal.

  • Maintain inventory of SaaS applications and internal software; flag and escalate shadow IT or unmanaged tools for remediation per policy.

  • Assist with evidence collection and documentation for compliance audits when requested, without owning the compliance program.

  • Evaluate internal software requests, renewals, and usage patterns to ensure cost-effective utilization, eliminate duplicative tools, and promote standardized platforms where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering.

  • Hands-on experience with endpoint management tools (Jamf, Intune, or equivalent MDM platforms).

  • Working familiarity with identity/SSO platforms (Okta or equivalent) from a day-to-day administration standpoint (not architecture).

  • Experience administering core SaaS and collaboration platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, or similar).

  • Comfortable working with limited documentation; strong troubleshooting and independent problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to write basic scripts or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent) for operational efficiency.

  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to support non-technical employees effectively.

  • U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must pass FBI fingerprint and background check in multiple states

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Experience supporting a hybrid Mac/Windows fleet.

  • Background in regulated or compliance-driven environments (public sector, healthcare, fintech, or similar).

  • Prior experience in a small or scaling company where IT wears multiple hats.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • Security related certifications are a plus.
