About this Insight Manager role at Mumsnet

Mumsnet · London, England, United Kingdom

The role

We’re looking for an Insight Manager to join our growing insights team at Mumsnet. You’ll own the delivery of research projects from commission to final presentation, work across quantitative and qualitative methods, and help shape how we use community data and our 20,000-strong Mumsnet Voices panel to answer the questions that matter to our clients.

It’s an exciting time for Mumsnet Insight. We’re expanding our research capabilities with both established and innovative approaches — including proprietary AI and NLP tools such as MumsGPT — and there’s real scope to shape what the function becomes.

Beyond core research, you’ll also support our commercial team by contributing insight-led content to brand partnership pitches. This means turning audience data and community intelligence into compelling stories that help our sales team win partnership briefs. If you’re someone who gets a kick out of finding the story in data — and then making that story land with different audiences — this role will suit you.

This is a small, hands-on team. You’ll be given genuine responsibility and autonomy, and you’ll work closely with colleagues across Insight, Marketing, Brand Partnerships, and Campaigns.

What you’ll be doing

Research delivery

  • Managing research projects end-to-end: from briefing and methodology design through to data collection, analysis, and final reporting.
  • Working across a range of methods including social listening, online surveys, qualitative discussion, and community platform data analysis.
  • Developing story-driven reports and presentations that translate findings into clear, actionable insight for clients across sectors including finance, charity, and FMCG.
  • Contributing to research proposals and helping to win new client work.
  • Liaising with Mumsnet members to encourage participation in Insight projects and the Mumsnet Voices panel.

Commercial & partnerships support

  • Pulling together audience insight, community data, and topical trends to support brand partnership pitch decks.
  • Working with the Brand Partnerships team to identify data stories that strengthen our commercial propositions.
  • Compiling topical insight packs for internal teams including Marketing, Brand Partnerships, and Campaigns.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

  • Genuine curiosity about people, behaviour, and what drives decision-making.
  • The ability to find the story in a dataset and communicate it clearly — whether that’s in a client debrief, a pitch deck, or an internal update.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without things slipping.
  • Confidence presenting findings to clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent written communication: clear, precise, and jargon-free.
  • A collaborative working style with the initiative to take ownership when needed.
  • Comfortable working with both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Proficiency with standard research and presentation tools (Google Workspace, survey platforms, or equivalent).

It’d be great if you also had

  • 2–4 years’ experience in a research, insight, or strategy role (agency or in-house).
  • Experience with survey scripting, data processing tools, or social listening platforms.
  • Familiarity with conversational or qualitative analysis techniques.
  • Experience contributing to commercial pitches or client-facing proposals.
  • An interest in AI-assisted research methods or natural language processing.

How we’ll support you

  • Regular one-to-ones with your line manager to review progress, set priorities, and provide support.
  • Annual appraisal and clear development conversations.
  • Cross-training across relevant internal teams when you join.
  • Ongoing on-the-job coaching from your line manager and the wider team.

Benefits

  • Salary: £35,000 - £37,000
  • Hybrid working — 2 days in the London office (Wednesday & Thursday)
  • 10 Weeks Work from Anywhere
  • ChatGPT Pro Account for AI learning
  • Real autonomy and ownership from day one
  • The chance to work on projects that shape how one of the UK's best-known digital brands operates
  • Buy More Holiday Scheme — Sometimes 25 days just isn't enough
  • Cycle2Work Scheme*
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Mumsnet Workplace Pension Scheme
  • Electric Vehicle Scheme*
  • Leisure & Retail Perks via Perkbox
  • BUPA Private Medical or Dental Cover*
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • Monthly Team Social Events
  • Annual Team Bonus Opportunities

Benefits with an asterisk are eligible upon successful completion of probationary period.

About Mumsnet

Who we are

Mumsnet is the UK’s biggest website for parents, and our purpose is to make their lives easier. We’ve got some of the busiest forums in Europe, with users offering each other advice and support 24/7, plus editorial content, reviews and campaigns. We aim to be the UK’s go-to brand for parents, and - for our staff - a great place to work.

Why work for us?

We focus on steady, sustainable growth while putting purpose before profit. We expect great performance, agility and collaboration in every role; cross-team working with talented, clever people is the best part of life at Mumsnet. We embraced flexible and home working a long time before COVID, and we care much more about outputs than hours on the clock. We know that everyone makes mistakes, and we value people who discuss them openly and share how they’ve learned from them.

We don't only want to hire the best people: we want to retain them. If you need some flexibility, let us know and we’ll do our best. We’re committed to diversity and quality (see our policy here) and we think we’re second to none in the all-round support we offer to parents and carers at work (see our parental leave policies here). Working for Mumsnet means never having to pretend you don’t have a family or other commitments, and we promise never to keep you away from a school appointment. We are also proud to be a London Living Wage employer and we have never used unpaid interns.

Pre-COVID, we had a healthy line-up of sandwich lunches, knowledge sessions, choirs, bookclubs, yoga sessions and sports teams, as well as an unhealthy line-up of staff parties at Kentish Town’s excellent pubs and restaurants, and McDonald’s deliveries for the mornings after.

Where we are

We’re based in sunny Kentish Town, where you’re never more than 500 metres away from a sourdough pizza and an elaborately refurbished pub.

Covid and WFH

We’ve continued to embrace flexibility and remote working to the max. You’ll only be required to be in the office one to two days a week (although you can go in more often if you wish).
