About this Human Rights Consultant 3 Months Contract role at Belmont Lavan Ltd
We are seeking an experienced Human Rights Due Diligence Specialist to provide expert guidance and oversight in the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of a Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) framework. The successful candidate will ensure alignment with international standards and best practices, with a particular focus on high-risk and conflict-affected environments within the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert oversight and quality assurance for the development of the Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) framework.
- Advise on the integration of human rights principles into business processes, risk management, and governance.
- Assess and manage human rights risks associated with operations, clients, and investments, particularly in conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
- Ensure the framework aligns with international human rights standards and regulatory expectations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen ESG and sustainability initiatives through a human rights lens.
- Provide practical, risk-based recommendations to support commercial decision-making while maintaining compliance with human rights obligations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated expertise in Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) at both policy and practitioner levels, particularly within conflict-affected or high-risk environments.
- Qualified Human Rights Lawyer or equivalent legal expertise in international human rights.
- Strong background in ESG and Sustainability, with experience integrating human rights into corporate frameworks.
- Proven experience applying human rights principles within commercial and risk functions of financial institutions.
- Deep understanding of conflict-area risk assessment and mitigation.
- Expert knowledge of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).
- Strong stakeholder management, analytical, and advisory skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with Indigenous Peoples' Rights and related international standards.
- Knowledge of Human Rights Governance frameworks and corporate governance practices.
- Experience working with multinational organisations, financial institutions, or global regulatory environments is highly desirable.
