Requirements
Private Duty Nursing (PDN) Scheduler – Rotating On-Call Schedule
The Private Duty Nursing Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and maintaining nurse schedules to ensure clients receive consistent, high-quality care. This position works closely with nurses, families, Case Managers, and clinical leadership to ensure all authorized hours are staffed appropriately while maintaining excellent communication and customer service.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and maintains daily and weekly nursing schedules for Private Duty Nursing clients.
- Schedules nurses according to client needs, authorized hours, skill requirements, and nurse availability.
- Communicates regularly with nurses and families regarding schedule changes, staffing updates, and coverage needs.
- Works closely with Case Managers and clinical leadership to identify staffing priorities and ensure continuity of care.
- Assists with filling open shifts due to call-outs, schedule changes, vacations, and staffing needs.
- Maintains accurate schedules within the scheduling system and ensures all updates are completed timely.
- Reviews schedules to ensure coverage aligns with client authorization and Plan of Care requirements.
- Tracks open shifts and proactively communicates staffing challenges to leadership.
- Partners with recruiting and clinical teams regarding high-priority staffing needs and nurse availability.
- Builds positive relationships with field nurses to improve engagement, communication, and retention.
- Provides excellent customer service to clients, families, and internal team members.
- Monitors schedule accuracy to support payroll, billing, and compliance processes.
- Participates in rotating on-call responsibilities to assist with after-hours scheduling needs, nurse call-outs, and urgent coverage concerns.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines when handling client and employee information.
- Completes additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust priorities quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to build relationships with nurses, families, and team members.
- Experience with healthcare scheduling, home health, or Private Duty Nursing preferred.
