BlackSky is seeking a hands-on and experienced Facilities Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance management, planning, and expansion of our Tukwila, WA, Seattle, WA, and Herndon, VA offices. This role will oversee a highly secure satellite manufacturing facility, including clean room and laboratory environments, as well as a Mission Operations Center (MOC). They will ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable work environment that supports business operations and will work closely with IT, Security, and building management to ensure facilities are well maintained and operational needs are met. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on facilities leader who thrives in a fast-paced, highly technical environment and enjoys balancing strategic planning for the office spaces with daily administrative tasks and operational execution. They are an organized problem-solver with strong customer service instincts who anticipates facilities needs before they become a larger problem.
This position is an on-site role, and will report to our Seattle and Tukwila offices five days per week, while managing our office and facilities in Herndon, VA remotely. This role reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain and Production.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily facilities operations across multiple office, laboratory, clean room, and specialized environments to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Oversee the facilities and operations of our three main offices in Seattle, WA, Tukwila, WA, and Herndon, VA.
- Oversee clean room, laboratory, and MOC protocols, including contamination control, equipment certification, hazard mitigation, service and calibration schedules, and environmental compliance.
- Manage facility operations supporting controlled environments, office spaces, and technical infrastructure, ensuring readiness for testing, manufacturing, mission operations, and day‑to‑day workplace needs.
- Coordinate and manage preventative maintenance programs for building systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Oversee facility repairs, maintenance requests, and capital improvement projects, working closely with internal teams and external vendors.
- Lead construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and expansion projects across all locations.
- Serve as the primary liaison with building management, contractors, service providers, and specialized technical vendors.
- Select, negotiate, and manage vendor relationships for facility services, utilities, security systems, janitorial, laboratory support, and clean room operations.
- Partner cross‑functionally with Security, IT, People Operations, Engineering, mission teams, and lab/MOC personnel to support physical security, access control, technology installations, infrastructure projects, and workspace readiness.
- Oversee receiving, shipping, deliveries, and logistics to ensure timely handling of equipment, materials, and vendor shipments.
- Manage office and technical space planning, including layouts for laboratories, clean rooms, offices, and MOC infrastructure needs.
- Ensure conference rooms, common areas, break rooms, and shared workplaces remain functional, organized, and well-maintained.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute events and preparations for VIP visitors and internal stakeholders.
- Develop, manage, and forecast facility operating and capital budgets while identifying cost‑saving and optimization opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, facility documentation, and vendor contracts.
- Lead emergency preparedness, incident response, and business continuity efforts across all facilities.
- Take ownership of developing and distributing safety plans and protocols, working collaboratively with Security and People Ops.
- Supervise, develop, and provide performance management for the Administrative & Facility Coordinator, including oversight of office services such as supply stocking, package management, event setup, and daily administrative operations.
- Provide multi‑site support to ensure standardized processes, consistent service quality, and operational excellence across locations.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in facilities/office management, operations services, or related roles, ideally in aerospace, satellite manufacturing, laboratory, or other highly-technical environments.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-site facilities.
- Strong budgeting, financial planning, and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of building systems, EH&S requirements, contamination control, and technical facility compliance.
- Experience supervising or mentoring team members in operations or administrative roles.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs and occasionally move equipment and supplies.
- Ability to respond to occasional after-hours facility/office issues or emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with clean rooms, laboratories, or other high-tech environments, and the associated safety standards.
- Certifications such as IFMA, OSHA, contamination control, or laboratory safety certifications.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), or Project Management Professional (PMP).

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $110,000 - $125,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA.
