Job Profile Summary:
The primary purpose of this role is to positively position various Man products across the institutional and intermediary allocator community in China. The focus will be on relationship management through a network of financial institutions and includes:
- All aspects of the promotion and servicing of existing allocations in the entire range of Man’s investment products and solutions
- Implementation of coverage strategy for clients and prospects in China and coordination with sales team activities for targeted clients
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a structured business plan, with the aim of increasing assets under management
- Identify, develop and maintain effective professional relationships with key investment contacts among the institutional and intermediary investor base
- Structured management of designated accounts: this will involve prioritisation of accounts, research, prospecting through and introducing possible investment solutions (including bespoke solutions) provided by Man Group; involve and engage senior colleagues and senior management in these discussions where appropriate; close on opportunities
- Ensure that department operates within its regulatory obligations
- Carry out finals presentations in conjunction with Portfolio Managers
- Manage on-going relationships with new and existing clients, across the whole hierarchy
- Contribute to the development of the overall business development strategy and help to implement the direct sales strategy achieving personal sales target within the timescales set
- Collaborate with other regions to ensure effective cross marketing and servicing
- Maintain contact tracking information for all key contacts so that accurate, up-to-date information is stored regarding these contacts. Ensure that all meeting notes are accurately written up in a timely manner
- Manage internal contacts to support sales activity and provide feedback on market and prospect knowledge to support and develop business strategy
- Act with integrity and diligence, observe proper standards of conduct and maintain a strong culture of compliance and ethics for all staff
- Ensure the Man brand is protected and suitably publicised in the region, including responsibility for external communications including liaising with journalists
- Report on all activity to senior management in an agreed format and within established timeframes
- Mentor, guide and manage junior members of the team, supporting their professional development and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- This role has a career trajectory, with the potential to progress to a General Manager position within the company for the right candidate
Key Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in financial markets, focused on hedge funds, fund of funds, equity strategies, trading or related fields
- Technical knowledge of investment theory and practice across asset classes, with a preference for prior alternatives experience
- Strong academics from a leading university
- Ability to work independently with a high level of organisation, personal initiative and resilience yet a proven ability to work well in a team
- Influencing and distinctive communication skills
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin, both oral and written
- Ability to work in a pressurised and complex organisation whilst maintaining personal integrity and exhibiting good team behaviour at all times
- Strong networking and relationship building skills
- Strong relationships with Chinese distributors
- Chinese private fund sales experience with a proven sales track record preferred
- Strong organisational skills
- In depth knowledge of Man’s products and structure
- Strong people and management skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to succeed in an intense, fast paced environment
- Ability to take ownership and work independently as well as on a team
- Proven proficiency in problem resolution and demonstrated initiative
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain communication and partnership with many key stakeholders
