About this Event Lead role at Mercor
About Mercor
Mercor's mission is to organize human intelligence to power the AI economy. We partner with leading AI labs and enterprises to provide the human intelligence essential to AI development. Our vast talent network trains frontier AI models in the same way teachers teach students: by sharing knowledge, experience, and context that can't be captured in code alone. Today, more than 30,000 experts in our network collectively earn over $3 million a day.
Mercor is creating a new category of work where expertise powers AI advancement. Achieving this requires an ambitious, fast-paced and deeply committed team. You’ll work alongside researchers, operators, and AI companies at the forefront of shaping the systems that are redefining society. Mercor is a profitable Series C company valued at $10 billion. We work in-person five days a week in our San Francisco, NYC, or London offices.
About the Role
Events are one of Mercor's highest-leverage surfaces: the rooms where we build relationships with frontier labs and enterprise customers, host our own conferences, reach the experts we recruit, and bring our team together. We're doing far more of them, and we need someone to own the motion.
You'll own Mercor's events end to end — part strategist, part operator. You set the strategy and the quality bar, then make it happen: deciding which events are worth our time, what format makes each one land, and who's in the room. A junior events and admin team is there to help you scale, not to run things for you.
What You'll Own
The events strategy and annual calendar across four areas: enterprise and human-data GTM, customer/lab GTM, recruiting, and internal.
The creative point of view and quality bar for every event — the difference between a forgettable dinner and the room people clear their calendar for.
Our own conferences, plus Mercor's presence at the ones that matter (NeurIPS, ICML, and the like).
High-signal executive and customer programs: intimate dinners, partner roundtables, and gatherings timed to our biggest moments.
Recruiting events, from a university program to hackathons, that help us reach and win elite talent.
Internal events, from team moments up to company-wide offsites.
Hands-on execution: managing vendors, coordinating across marketing, recruiting, and workplace, and keeping every detail on track.
Follow-through with GTM and recruiting partners, so events produce relationships, pipeline, and talent — not just attendance.
Measurement and repeatable playbooks, so every program gets sharper over time.
What We're Looking For
6–8 years in events, field marketing, or experiential — ideally for technical, executive, or otherwise discerning audiences.
Deep expertise and conviction: strong, defensible opinions on what makes an event land, and the confidence to push back on stakeholders.
An entrepreneurial executor who finds the leverage and goes after it — not an order-taker. High energy, hands-on with vendors, details, and run-of-show.
A structured thinker who turns ambiguity into clear plans and presents them well across marketing, recruiting, and vendors.
Steady under ambiguity: you prefer a plan, but you don't stall without one.
Polished enough to represent Mercor to founders, lab leaders, and senior executives.
Nice to Haves
Events experience in AI, human data, or the Bay Area startup scene.
Design taste: you can shape an aesthetic, pick a menu, and give sharp feedback on vendor work.
A client-facing, outgoing presence — comfortable in the room, not just behind it.
A network in the AI ecosystem: labs, researchers, founders.
You've stood up an owned event or program from scratch.
