Work Location Disclaimer: This position will primarily be based at MCI’s manufacturing facility located at 1475 Clarence Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Work location can/may vary based on operational requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the identification and assessment of Safety, Health and Environmental (EHS) issues and continually improve performance through the development and implementation of programs focused on prevention. Coordinate all EHS compliance activities including investigations, compliance, analysis, education, and training. Provide EHS expertise for daily operations and the development and promotion of related policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Responsibility for emergency and hazard response activities.
  • Review and actively support all EHS investigations to ensure appropriate internal and external reporting, root cause and corrective action are implemented, follow-up to completion
  • Monitor and actively participate in guidance on current and future production activities ensuring compliance with EHS acts and regulations.
  • Monitor changes in EHS regulation and legislation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal environmental permits and licensing requirements; and liaise with management to ensure compliance and integrated into operation.
  • Identification and development of EHS education, and delivery of training and required certification.
  • Ensure regular EHS inspections are taking place and follow-up action is taken.
  • Develop and deliver EHS initiatives to continuously improve policy and programs.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the Loss Management policies, programs and procedures process for MCI.
  • Provide EHS evaluation and support for product and facility initiatives. Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and proposals.
  • Monitor and assess occupational exposures from the various processes conducted at Motor Coach Industries.
  • Implement and monitor elements of the waste management system. Maintain monitoring and reporting requirements of air emissions, industrial and hazardous waste disposal, storage tanks, storm water permitting, Chemical purchase/storage, and water discharge programs.
  • Provide and maintain accurate statistical data, reports, and analysis of EHS conditions in support of reduction goals.
  • Maintain registration requirements ISO 14001/45001.
  • Support ME/Production Laser Safety Officer (LSO) to ensure Laser Safety program is maintained.
  • Support satellite facilities as assigned.
  • Support safety related meetings and Internal audits as required.
  • Participant of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Comply with all occupational safety and health regulations, life safety codes, CSA standards, Provincial, and federal laws, Motor Coach management and the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of direct environmental, health, and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety and health legislation, environmental regulations, CSA standards, and applicable fire, building, and life-safety codes.
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
  • Health and Safety certification preferred; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation considered an asset.
  • Valid First Aid certification.
  • Experience using air-quality testing equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid authorization to travel to the United States is required, with approximately 10% travel expected.
