About the Position

The Director, Financial Operations is a high-impact leadership role responsible for owning and transforming The Princeton Review’s end-to-end working capital and financial operations functions. This individual will lead Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, driving best-in-class performance across billing, collections, vendor management, and disbursements, while serving as a key partner in managing the company’s cash flow and liquidity.

This role is designed for an operational athlete, i.e. someone who combines strong financial acumen with speed, rigor, and a builder’s mindset. The Director will establish and execute a clear working capital strategy, implement scalable processes and systems, and leverage automation and AI to deliver real-time visibility and control. They will operate at the intersection of Finance, Operations, and leadership, translating data into action, influencing behavior across the organization, and driving measurable improvements in cash performance.

What You'll Do 

Strategy & Execution

  • Own and drive the company’s working capital strategy, with accountability for improving cash conversion cycle (CCC), Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and Days Payables Outstanding (DPO)
  • Establish and execute a roadmap to achieve best-in-class financial operations across Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay processes
  • Partner with Finance leadership to align working capital performance with broader financial plans, liquidity needs, and strategic priorities

Operations

  • Lead end-to-end AR and AP functions, including billing, collections, cash application, vendor management, and payment execution
  • Drive performance against clearly defined KPIs, including DSO, DPO, aging, invoice cycle times, dispute resolution timelines, and cash flow predictability
  • Ensure accurate, timely close processes and strong internal controls across AR/AP, partnering closely with Accounting and Audit
  • Implement disciplined processes for vendor prioritization and payment timing, balancing liquidity management with vendor relationships

Business Unit Partnership

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Operations, and FP&A to improve billing accuracy, contract structures, pricing/packaging implications, and vendor usage
  • Lead communication and negotiations with key customers and vendors, resolving issues, improving terms, and strengthening relationships
  • Provide clear, data-driven insights to executive leadership on working capital performance, risks, and opportunities

Data, Systems & Insights

  • Own the systems and tooling roadmap for financial operations, including ERP optimization, billing platforms, and AP automation tools
  • Build and deploy dashboards and reporting that provide real-time visibility into cash flow, AR/AP performance, and key operational metrics
  • Leverage AI and automation to streamline workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve speed, accuracy, and scalability

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing AR/AP organization with a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear performance standards, KPIs, and operating rhythms for the team
  • Serve as a player-coach – able to operate at both strategic and tactical levels as needed

Who You Are

  • You have 10–15+ years of experience in finance operations, accounting, or related roles, with significant ownership of AR/AP and working capital performance
  • You have a proven track record of improving cash flow metrics, including reducing DSO, optimizing DPO, and enhancing cash conversion cycle
  • You are a systems and process-oriented leader, with experience implementing scalable workflows, controls, and automation solutions
  • You are highly proficient in ERP systems and Excel, with experience leveraging BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and automation/AI solutions
  • You have strong business acumen and understand how operational decisions impact cash flow, profitability, and risk
  • You are an effective communicator and negotiator, with the ability to manage complex vendor and customer relationships
  • You operate with speed and precision—able to drive outcomes and make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong bias toward accountability and execution
  • You bring a “player-coach” mindset—willing to roll up your sleeves while building and leading teams
  • You model collaborative, inclusive leadership that balances strategic vision with operational excellence

The Princeton Review and Tutor.com offer a competitive salary which commensurates with experience and skills. 

US Pay Range
$150,000$175,000 USD
