ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Product Manager will play a central role in translating Inkomoko’s strategic priorities into digital products that meaningfully support refugee and low-income entrepreneurs across multiple countries. This role blends human-centred design, business understanding, and hands-on product delivery, ensuring that solutions are useful, usable, and scalable across diverse operational settings.

The Product Manager also leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of digital products that enable refugee and host-community entrepreneurs to access financial services, business training, advisory support, and market linkages. This includes digital lending tools, financial literacy platforms, business management applications, and data systems used for credit assessment and program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research and translate insights into prioritized PRDs and user stories.
  • Collaborate daily with Engineering, UX/UI, Data, and business stakeholders.
  • Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, UAT, and launch coordination.
  • Measure and improve adoption, satisfaction, and impact post-launch.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with Inkomoko’s IP Policy and regulatory standards.

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Develop and champion a product vision focused on improving financial inclusion, business support and access to finance for refugee and low-income entrepreneurs.
  • Translate organizational goals into product strategies, roadmaps, and measurable impact outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for technology innovation in digital lending, alternative credit scoring, business training, and market linkages. 

User Research & Human-Centered Design

  • Conduct field research, interviews, and usability studies with refugee, host-community, and micro-enterprise users.
  • Work with program teams, credit officers, trainers, and community partners to understand user pain points and operational needs.
  • Apply design-thinking principles to define user needs, behaviour patterns, and pain points.
  • Ensure products are inclusive for low-literacy, low-tech, and low-bandwidth users.
  • Translate insights into journey maps, prototypes, user flows, and problem statements.

Product Development & Delivery

  • Translate user insights into clear, prioritised PRDs, , user stories, flow diagrams, and product specifications.
  • Use AI-enabled tools to accelerate requirement documentation, wireframing, and UAT
  • Collaborate with engineering, UX/UI, data, and program teams to deliver high-quality digital products.
  • Oversee prototyping, testing, iteration, and rollout of new features—including digital loan applications, scoring engines, mobile dashboards, and training modules.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and maintain a prioritized product backlog.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with program leads, finance teams, MEL/impact teams, and field staff to ensure product alignment with both programmatic and compliance needs.
  • Coordinate with external partners such as fintechs, MNOs, integration vendors, and technology providers.
  • Communicate product updates, risks, and timelines to internal and external stakeholders.

Product Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Define product KPIs including loan conversion rates, digital adoption, repayment performance, user engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Use data analytics and user feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor system reliability, security, and user experience; work with technical teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensure products comply with data protection, safeguarding, and donor requirements.

Go-to-Market/Production & Change Management

  • Support training for field teams, credit officers, and entrepreneurs during product rollout.
  • Develop product documentation, playbooks, and help guides.
  • Lead pilots, A/B tests, and scale-up plans for digital lending and business support tools.

Requirements

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5-7 years in product management or business analysis preferably in:
  1. Financial inclusion / microfinance
  2. Digital lending
  3. Social impact or non-profit technology
  4. Community or SME business support solutions
  • Proven track record shipping digital products (web/mobile/internal tools).
  • Strong command of agile practices, user research, and product analytics.
  • Experience in fintech, financial inclusion, or multi-country environments is a plus.Experience working with low-income or refugee communities (desired).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and digital platform development.
  • Experience integrating mobile money, USSD, credit scoring, CRM, or LMS systems is an added advantage.

  • Strong understanding of financial inclusion, microfinance workflows, and digital lending operations.
  • Excellent ability to gather requirements from diverse stakeholders (technical, programmatic, field).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
    Human-centered design orientation and deep empathy for vulnerable users.
  • Effective communication, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance impact, technology, cost, and operational realities.
  • Proficiency with product tools such as Jira, Notion, Figma, Miro, and analytics dashboards.
  • User empathy & problem-solving
  • Clear written & verbal communication
  • Bias for action in fast-paced settings.
