The Purpose: 
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and integration pipelines that support secure, scalable, and high-performing data delivery at AP+. This role ensures seamless deployment and operation of systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. It is hands-on in automating processes, managing configurations, and using AI-assisted development and monitoring tools to improve efficiency, code quality, and operational reliability. 

The core accountabilities of the role will include: 

• Define and manage requirements across the delivery lifecycle, ensuring alignment, traceability and stakeholder engagement.  

• Design, build, test and maintain secure, scalable data and infrastructure solutions using standardised engineering practices.  

• Plan and execute system integration activities, including build configuration, testing and issue resolution.  

• Provision, configure and optimise infrastructure across on-premise, virtual and cloud environments.  

• Automate operational and system administration tasks to improve efficiency, reliability and scalability.  

• Maintain secure and auditable configuration management processes and configuration items (CIs).  

• Support release and deployment activities to ensure stable, compliant and efficient delivery outcomes.  

• Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to validate deployment readiness and resolve issues.  

• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships through collaboration, communication and issue management.  

• Drive continuous improvement of DevOps tools, processes and delivery practices.  

• Leverage AI-driven tools and automation techniques to enhance DevOps operations and engineering outcomes. 

Success in this role requires demonstrated capability in the following areas: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.  

• Industry certifications across cloud platforms, DevOps tooling or scripting technologies are advantageous but not essential.  

Experience 

• 3+ years’ experience in a DevOps or related engineering role.  

• Experience within payments or financial services environments is highly regarded.  

• Exposure to AI-assisted development, automation or operational monitoring tools is advantageous.  

Technical Capability 

• CI/CD: Experience designing and supporting automated delivery pipelines using GitLab CI/CD; experience with comparable CI/CD platforms is valued. 

• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS and GCP, with AWS as the preferred cloud platform. 

• Containerisation & Orchestration: Experience deploying and operating containerised workloads using Kubernetes (EKS) and Amazon ECS; other container platforms are encouraged. 

• Monitoring & Observability: Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using Dynatrace and CloudWatch; familiarity with similar platforms is beneficial. 

• Data Platforms & Integration: Experience building and supporting data integration and processing solutions using AppFlow, Confluent Kafka, Airflow, Snowflake, S3 and SFTP. 

• AWS Services: Practical experience with core AWS services including EKS, ECS, S3, ALB, CloudFront, Lambda and DynamoDB. 

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using Terraform, OpenTofu and AWS CDK; knowledge of similar IaC tools is welcomed. 

• Security Tooling: Experience implementing cloud security, vulnerability management and web application protection using Wiz, CrowdStrike and Cloudflare WAF.
