Job Summary
YouthBuild Global seeks qualified independent contractors to serve as Department of Labor (DOL) YouthBuild Technical Assistance (TA) Coaches. YouthBuild Global is the technical assistance provider for the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) YouthBuild program. Organizations awarded a USDOL YouthBuild grant receive comprehensive support to successfully implement the YouthBuild model. This includes a technical assistance coach that is either a YouthBuild Global staff or an independent consultant with varying subject matter expertise in education, workforce, youth/young adult development, and/or organizational development, etc.
Coaches provide individualized technical assistance, training, coaching, and capacity-building support to DOL YouthBuild grantees across the country. Each coach will be assigned a portfolio of YouthBuild programs to provide technical assistance, working directly with program leadership and staff to assess strengths and challenges, develop technical assistance plans, share resources and promising practices, support performance improvement efforts, and help programs implement the YouthBuild model with fidelity. Coaches may provide support through one-on-one coaching, group learning opportunities, virtual meetings, trainings, and on-site visits (as needed).
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve as a meaningful thought partner with staff members at sites
- Assist the grantee in assessing program strengths and challenges
- Research and connect grantees to timely and relevant resources (research articles, content on WorkforceGPS, peer activities, promising practices, and success models)
- Offer necessary support and encouragement
- Provide real-time observation and feedback on elements of work/practice across the program
- Support strategy development (long and short-term); and
- Catalyze and encourage new thinking, ideas, activities, etc., as appropriate
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Programmatic:
Knowledge and ability to support grantees in the following areas:
- Construction and Construction Plus preparation, training, and certification (Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship)
- Placement preparation and retention for Postsecondary Education, Registered Apprenticeship, a First Job and/or Career Pathway
- Career Pathway preparation and training
- Career Pathway credential/certification
- Career Pathway Placement in Education and Employment
- Partnership development and connection to Registered Apprenticeships, Postsecondary education, employers, and American Job Centers
- Case management in best practice youth development, individual and group counseling
- Supportive Services for Participants
Administrative:
- Monthly technical assistance reports
- Monthly invoices
- Other documentation as required, such as quarterly assessments, trends and promising practices, grantee TA agendas, site visit reports, etc.
- Attendance at coach meetings
Requirements
Education & Experience Required
- A bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience in youth development, workforce development, education, registered apprenticeship, and/or related fields
- Strong coaching, training, facilitation, and project management skills
- Experience with YouthBuild and/or USDOL-funded programs preferred
- Knowledge of USDOL YouthBuild grant requirements and performance expectations preferred
- Ability to travel as needed and work effectively in virtual environments
- Highly collaborative and able to effectively engage with various levels of program staff and management
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of Career Pathway models for youth and adults
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective training and presentation skills via virtual platforms
- Highly organized and able to meet deadlines, including monthly reporting, invoicing, and projects.
- Ability to manage and move projects forward within specific timelines and budgets with a high attention to detail and quality
- Ability to follow, critically evaluate, and improve upon current processes
- Calm under pressure and operate with integrity and confidentiality
- Demonstrated expertise in MS Office products, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Availability during regular workweek

Hourly Rate: $62.00 per hour
Annual Salary: starting at $12,000
