Grade Checker / Laborer
Position Summary
The Grade Checker / Laborer supports construction and earthwork operations by checking grades, setting stakes, and assisting crews with general labor tasks. This position helps ensure grading and excavation work meets project specifications while maintaining a safe and productive job site.
OT/Traveling/Long Hours/Weekends are required.
Responsibilities
- Check grades and elevations using survey tools, GPS, and laser equipment.
- Set and read grade stakes for excavation and grading operations.
- Communicate grade information to equipment operators and crew members.
- Verify measurements and ensure work meets project requirements.
- Assist with general labor duties, including site cleanup and material handling.
- Load, unload, and move tools and materials as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Maintain surveying and grading equipment in good working condition.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 1+ years as a Grader Checker construction/grading experience.
- Ability to read grade stakes and use GPS or laser leveling equipment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends when required/ Traveling abut 80%.
- Strong attention to safety and teamwork.
- Must be able to climb on and off equipment and perform physical job duties.
- Ability to work outdoors in hot and physically demanding conditions
