About this Cybersecurity Analyst role at VBP
Overview of the Role
The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for monitoring, analysing and responding to cyber security threats and vulnerabilities affecting the organisation’s systems, networks, applications and information.
The position supports security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, information security risk and compliance activities, and the ongoing maintenance and continual improvement of the organisation’s Information Security Management System.
Main Responsibilities:
- Monitor security tools, alerts and logs for suspicious activity.
- Investigate and prioritise potential cyber security incidents.
- Support the investigation, containment and recovery of cyber incidents.
- Conduct vulnerability scanning and authorised security assessments.
- Monitor emerging threats and recommend security improvements.
- Assist with ISMS reviews, reporting and information-handling requirements.
- Support security risk assessments and maintain risk and compliance records.
- Assist with access reviews, privileged-account monitoring and security assessments.
- Support awareness activities, phishing simulations and security communications.
- Provide practical security guidance to employees and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in cyber security, information technology, computer science, information systems or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Microsoft SC-200, GIAC GSEC, ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation or equivalent are desirable.
- Experience in cyber security operations, information security, infrastructure, networking or a related technical role.
- Experience with security monitoring technologies such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, email security and cloud security tools.
- Knowledge of incident response, vulnerability management, threat intelligence and security investigation techniques.
- Understanding of information security governance, risk, compliance, control assurance and Information Security Management Systems.
- Familiarity with recognised standards and frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, Essential Eight, the Australian Government Information Security Manual and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and exercise sound judgement during security incidents.
