Workdays & Hours: The schedule is below for the Meadowbrook Library location; Some evening/weekend work required.

Meadowbrook Library (20-Hour Workweek)

Tuesday:Β Β Β Β Β Β  9:15am-1:15pm

Wednesday:Β  4:15pm-8:15pm

Thursday:Β Β Β Β  9:15am-1:15pm

Saturday:Β Β Β Β Β  9:15am-6:15pm

The Fort Worth Public Library is hiring a part-time Customer Service Representative I to provide great customer service at the Meadowbrook Library.

The ideal candidate for this position is friendly, helpful, extremely organized, enthusiastic about bringing library services to all members of the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • No previous experience required
  • Must pass physical

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of customer service experience
  • Ability to communicate with customers in Spanish
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work at/travel to various locations

The Customer Service Representative I job responsibilities include:

  • Providing friendly, efficient, and professional service to customers
  • Checking library materials in and out; Issuing library cards
  • Conducting customer payment transactions and operating a cash register
  • Answering customer questions about library policies, procedures and accounts
  • Answering basic reference, reader’s advisory and general usage questions
  • Assist with library programs and outreach as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
