2469 - Cross Channel Account Director - GCS

Role Summary and Impact

We are the WPP Media GCS (Global Client Solutions) MMD (Media Management & Delivery) team, servicing both centrally executed campaigns in multiple languages as well as coordinating and supporting strategic directions across markets. We work on a mix of blue-chip clients for both direct and brand-led initiatives including but not limited to: AkzoNobel, Mastercard, PlayStation, the Coca-Cola Company, and many more.

The Cross Channel Account Director is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of biddable media (Search, Social, and Programmatic) within the newly formed European HME Hub. Reporting directly to the Cross Channel Associate Director, you will turn the regional blueprint into operational reality. You will lead the day-to-day client relationships, supervise the activation team, and ensure that campaign delivery is flawless, on time, and continuously optimized to drive real business outcomes.

Skills and Experience

Hub Delivery & Campaign Excellence

  • Operationalize the European HME Hub model, implementing and maintaining the day-to-day workflows, campaign hygiene, and quality assurance processes across markets.
  • Enforce and execute activation best practices across Search, Social, and Programmatic, ensuring that campaign setups, optimizations, and testing roadmaps are carried out to the highest standards.
  • Work closely with internal Data Strategy, Analytics, and Planning teams to execute seamless, high-performing cross-channel campaigns.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and deploy workflow efficiencies, utilizing automation tools to streamline day-to-day tasks across EMEA workstreams.

Market Collaboration & Client Management

  • Act as the primary, day-to-day contact for European local market stakeholders, answering queries, resolving operational challenges, and acting as a trusted activation partner.
  • Translate high-level client business objectives into detailed, actionable cross-channel media plans.
  • Manage day-to-day client communications, delivering regular performance updates and showing how tactical optimizations are moving the needle on client KPIs.
  • Support the Associate Director in driving account maturity across Europe by implementing advanced targeting, optimization, and testing frameworks in local markets.

Team & Partner Management

  • Directly manage, mentor, and support a team of hands-on cross-channel Managers and Executives, supporting their day-to-day workloads and career development.
  • Coordinate daily workflows with our offshore activation hub in India, ensuring task briefs are clear, deadlines are met, and output remains consistently excellent.
  • Maintain active communication with media vendors and platform partners to keep the hub at the forefront of new product betas and optimization opportunities.
  • Own the day-to-day financial health of the accounts, overseeing accurate forecasting sheets, billing reconciliation, and scope management.

Skills and Experience

  • An Activation Expert & Practitioner: You have deep, current hands-on and supervisory knowledge of addressable channels, allowing you to easily troubleshoot campaign setups and translate technical platform details into clear client-facing updates.
  • Proven Media Agency Experience: Solid experience in media activation, with a proven track record of running complex, multi-market brand and performance campaigns.
  • Platform Proficiency: Practical, expert-level understanding of major biddable and programmatic platforms:
  • Expert knowledge of Google Ads, DV360, YouTube, and Meta.
  • Strong understanding of measurement technology, tracking, and attribution tools.
  • Collaborative Coordinator: Proven ability to navigate a matrixed agency environment and work collaboratively across multi-functional internal teams, local markets, and client stakeholders.
  • Detail-Oriented & Organized: Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple overlapping campaign timelines and financial workflows.
  • Strong Communicator: Skilled in creating clear client presentations, explaining complex optimization strategies simply, and maintaining strong relationships across all levels of the team.

Required Education and Experience

  • Proven experience in media activation at Account Manager level or above, delivering excellence across brand and performance campaigns.
  • Experience with running campaigns across multiple countries / languages.
  • Experience working with large brands in a complex structure within an agency environment.
  • Experience in managing day-to-day vendor relationships.
  • Experience working directly with an offshore hub in India.
