About this Creative Lead role at One Acre Fund
About One Acre Fund
Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.
About the Role
As our Creative Lead and deputy to the Creative Director, you will sit on the Global Communications team. This role will require strong systems building and management, alongside deep creative professional experience that will allow you to review assets across many creative fields. Instead of heavy daily hands-on asset creation, one of your main focuses will be traffic control and workflow management, building and running a centralized request pipeline while leading and mentoring a talented team of ~5 creatives. You will be the one of the main guardians of our brand identity, ensuring everything we produce hits our high-quality bar, meets strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and satisfies cross-functional stakeholder needs.
Responsibilities
Creative Content Quality Review & Brand Management
- Final Creative Sign-Off: Serve as one of the last line reviews for some of the organization’s public-facing assets. Provide rigorous, highly actionable quality and consistency feedback across writing, graphic design, photography and video before final production release.
- Engage in brand building and advising for new affiliates within the org’s brand families.
- Drive brand guideline expansions and evolutions to better serve our markets as needed (example: work with the Design Lead to build out youth brand guidelines).
Run & Improve Comms Support Systems
- Pipeline & Traffic Management: Own, optimize, and actively manage our centralized Global Comms request ticketing system and intake workflow.
- SLA Enforcement: Review, prioritize and delegate daily incoming requests to team units, ensuring the creative team consistently meets strict production, turnaround, and quality SLAs.
- Continually improve our content storing and sharing systems as well as templates, with the support of the Comms team to execute improvements.
Creative Brainstorming & Ideation
- Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management: Lead strategic alignment and manage production expectations through active partnership with Internal Comms, External Comms, Digital and BizDev teams.
- Contribute to campaign, brand and design brainstorming and ideation.
- Contribute to content planning and design content that can be cross-purposed based on upcoming content plans.
Career Growth and Development
We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. We hold career reviews every six months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and build a rewarding long-term career.
Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- Proven Creative Leadership: Clear experience managing a creative team with a track record of upholding a strict quality bar and executing final creative sign-offs.
- Traffic & Project Management: Direct experience building or running a high-volume request pipeline or ticketing system (e.g., Asana, Monday.com, Jira, or similar workflow management tools).
- Technical Proficiency: Active, professional fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace (with the technical depth to thoroughly evaluate, troubleshoot and critique graphic design pieces, videos, and editorial writing).
- Technical expertise in one or multiple creative fields (i.e., graphic design, video, photography, or writing).
- Keen attention to detail for reviewing and ability to communicate edit feedback clearly enough for others to action correctly.
