About the Team
The Marketing and Communications team leads storytelling, brand visibility, content creation, social media, campaigns, collateral, and institutional communications across ALU. In Mauritius, the team plays a key role in capturing and sharing the ALCHE student experience, campus life, academic experience, events, alumni stories, and institutional milestones.
About the Role
The Content Associate, Mauritius will be responsible for capturing, creating, editing, and sharing content from the Mauritius campus. This person will help tell the ALCHE story through photography, videography, social media content, student stories, event coverage, testimonials, and short-form video.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, creative, organised, and comfortable working behind the camera as well as editing content for different platforms. They should understand social media, know how to capture strong visual stories, and be able to work closely with students, staff, faculty, and the wider marketing team.
Key Responsibilities
Story Capture
- Capture strong student, alumni, faculty, staff, and campus stories from ALCHE Mauritius.
- Conduct basic interviews and gather quotes, testimonials, and story inputs.
- Identify strong content opportunities across campus life, student experience, academic activities, events, projects, and alumni engagement.
- Work with the Marketing team to build a regular pipeline of Mauritius-based stories.
Photography and Videography
- Capture high-quality photos and videos for social media, websites, newsletters, campaigns, events, and other marketing channels.
- Cover campus events, student activities, leadership visits, recruitment activities, and institutional moments.
- Record short interviews, testimonials, behind-the-scenes content, and social-first videos.
- Ensure all content is well-framed, clear, properly lit, and suitable for ALU’s brand standards.
- Manage basic content equipment and ensure files are properly stored and shared.
Content Editing
- Edit short-form videos for social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
- Edit photos and prepare visual content for digital use.
- Add captions, subtitles, basic graphics, and simple transitions where needed.
- Turn raw footage into clear, engaging, and usable content.
- Support the creation of reels, event recaps, student features, campus highlights, and testimonial videos.
Social Media
- Support the planning and execution of social media content for ALCHE Mauritius.
- Create and publish social media content in line with ALU’s content calendar and brand guidelines.
- Monitor social media trends and recommend content ideas that fit the ALCHE audience.
- Support live coverage of key events when required.
- Track engagement and share basic insights on what content is working.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with the Brand and Content Manager, central Marketing team, ALCHE leadership, students, faculty, and staff.
- Coordinate with internal teams to understand upcoming events, activities, and content needs.
- Ensure content requests are planned and delivered on time.
- Maintain a shared content library with properly labelled photos, videos, and edited assets.
- Support cross-campus storytelling by sharing regular content updates from Mauritius.
Safeguarding and Consent
- Ensure consent is obtained before capturing or publishing student, staff, faculty, alumni, or visitor content.
- Follow ALU’s safeguarding guidelines when capturing and using images, videos, and testimonials.
- Handle all content professionally and responsibly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communications, Film, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media, Visual Communication, or a related field is required.
- 2–4 years of experience in content creation, social media, photography, videography, communications, or a related field.
- Strong photography and videography skills are required.
- Strong video and photo editing skills are required.
- Good understanding of social media platforms and content formats.
- Experience creating reels, short videos, event recaps, interviews, testimonials, and social-first content.
- Proficiency with editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, Canva, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar tools.
- Ability to write simple, clear, and engaging captions and short copy.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple content requests.
- Comfortable working with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience in education, youth engagement, student life, or social impact will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for key events or content moments.
