This responsibility requires that we be service oriented relative to the needs of all referred participants, while still assuring that all services adhere to Michigan Department of Corrections policies and procedures, financial requirements as established through the State funding source.

OUR DESIRED OUTCOMES:
This position involves building and coordinating relationships with a broad array of community stakeholders throughout the counties of Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Saint Joseph, Branch and Calhoun in order to foster a safety net of support and re-employment services for individuals returning to the region from State of Michigan correctional institutions. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to: building sub-grantees capacity to administer the Michigan Department of Corrections Offender Success program; analyzing and negotiating contracts; monitoring performance of vendors and contractors; resolving service delivery problems; acting as primary liaison to Michigan Department of Corrections’ Parole Offices, developing and monitoring budgets along with the OS Program Manager and the BCVB Finance Department as needed; and coordinating activities to ensure improved employment outcomes and reduced recidivism rates for ex-offenders, through a full menu of related services delivered by faith and community based organizations as well as by private industry contractors.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
The Community Coordinator is a key player within the Offender Success Team. With that said they will be given the tools and support needed to carry out and execute all the functions for the position in the best of their ability.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Identify community assets that can improve parolee success, as well as gaps in services including subcontractor recruitment.
- In charge of identifying and recruiting regional Steering Team and Advisory Council members in compliance with grant compliance, maintaining and active roster of participants, producing reports regarding program Key Performance Measures to show progression and facilitating regional Steering Team meetings on proper cadence
- Under the general supervision of the Offender Services Director, plans, organizes, controls, integrates, monitors and evaluates the services provided by contractors/vendors engaged in re-entry services.
- Preparation of monthly reports and other applicable systems to ensure contract goals and objectives are met
- Create and foster partnerships with other government, nonprofit and private organizations to leverage their contributions for successful re-entry
- Identify available grant funding to provide supportive services to returning offenders and work with the OS Program Manager to provide technical assistance for submitting grant proposals as determined appropriate
- Make recommendations to improve policies, systems, resources and services to support returning ex-offenders to the community
- All other assigned duties by the MDOC and Director of Offender Service.
- Manage the half of the Offender Success Team and assist with their growth and development.
- Ensure the full integration of the finance team within the larger Kinexus Team to reduce duplication of effort, streamline services, and maximize all resources in support of the right service at the right time

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Non-Profit Administration or related field
- 3 year’s experience in community resource acquisition
- Excellent Written and Verbal Skills
- Previous Experience in community resource role
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Non-Profit Administration or related field
- 5+ years in a Community Resource leadership role
- Knowledge in reentry or corrections process
- Background in fostering key community partnerships for resource leveraging
- Contract and budget management
