About the role
We are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our growing Team!
What you’ll do:
- Create and implement safety plans/programs in accordance with OSHA Standards.
- Train employees in worksite safety practices by promoting and leading a site culture where safety is ingrained as a core value.
- Perform safety inspections of the production floor.
- Perform audits of the written safety program.
- Investigates accidents and near misses. Provides corrective actions.
- Perform JSA and LOTO assessments.
- Trains new employees on JSA for their respective areas.
- Maintain chemical inventory list.
- Ensure SDS sheets are current and up to date for all departments in IQS.
- Evaluate and assign all annual safety training needs for all VEGA employees.
- Manage Safety Skills platform
- Maintain OSHA 300A log, report electronically through OSHA annually.
- Monitor subcontractors’ safety and compliance.
- Prepare and present reports on safety metrics.
- Ensure that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
- Coordinate and run the emergency response team.
- Manage direct seller PPE kits, Respirator Program.
- Manage hearing conservation program.
- Assist with annual fire and severe weather drills
- Manage UniFirst first aid and safety cabinets.
- Ensure all training is kept up to date for lift truck drivers, ERT, Respirators, Hearing conservation, etc.)
What you need
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field
- 3+ years of related experience
- or a combination of education and experience related to the position
- OSHA 30 Certification
