Associate, Games Data, Demand Model, and Code Set
Position Summary
The Associate, Games Data, Demand Model, and Code Set, will play a key role in developing LA28’s data and analysis capability as part of the Planning and Programs team. This role will support the development of LA28’s Games Demand Model, the single source of truth containing the latest demand data and assumptions for LA28, ensuring all functional areas are planning their operations from the same baseline.
This position will be leading the day-to-day activities around the development and maintenance of the Games Demand Model and its components: creation and maintenance of key data sets, support to the data owners and stewards across LA28 to maintain data accuracy and completeness, support the ETL (extract, transform and load) process and the development of business intelligence insights through various reports and ad-hoc analysis.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong communication abilities and have experience as a data analyst.
This role will report directly into the Games Data and Analysis Director and work closely with a variety of data owners and stewards across LA28’s functional areas.
Key Responsibilities
Games Demand Model

Lead the day-to-day maintenance of the Games Demand Model, ensuring that all LA28 functional areas and external partners make use of the latest demand data and assumptions

Create, store, maintain, archive and dispose of Games Demand Model datasets and code sets in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

Support various data owners and stewards within LA28 to ensure data integrity, accuracy and relevance of the datasets required for the Games Demand Model. This includes, but is not limited to, venues, schedules, stakeholder population estimates, behavioral assumptions, etc.

Support the development of planning assumptions to help model the demand for services by Olympic Games Stakeholders.

Act as data owner for certain key datasets and code sets within LA28

Collaborate closely with the Technology team to develop and maintain the overall system and data architecture supporting the Games Demand Model

Support the ETL (extract, transform and load) process necessary for the Games Demand Model in partnership with the Technology team
-
Develop dashboards, ad-hoc analyses or other communication materials to support operational planning and decision-making of LA28 functional areas

Provide data analysis advice to decide on how to best evolve the Games Demand Model and address the priority data needs expressed by the LA28 functional areas

Lead the development and integration of new datasets and planning assumptions within the Games Demand Model

Prepare materials to support the Games Demand Model Governance (e.g. meeting agendas, presentations, minutes)
Data related activities

Contribute to the definition of LA28’s Games-time monitoring and reporting to support the operations of the Main Operations Centre and evaluate planned versus actual usage of key services to adjust operations.

Promote the consistent use of terminology stored in common code sets throughout LA28

Develop data governance policies and procedures as required

Support communications efforts within LA28 to inform when changes to key planning assumptions have been made

Support the Games-time operational data capture efforts
Background and Requirements

Minimum of 3+ years related work experience
-
A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, data science, computer science, economics or a related field/equivalent work experience

Proficiency in data analysis and exposure to data engineering/processing best practices
-
Strong knowledge of data analysis tools, software and programming languages (e.g. Azure Data Factory, SQL, Python, Tableau, Excel)

Statistics literacy and experience in developing forecast models

Expertise in developing and maintaining code sets and taxonomies
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.

The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.

The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.

Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.

Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Expectations

Experience working in Event Planning or large-scale project management is preferred

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,500 - $82,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.
