The Work
The Associate Director, Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for leading the design and implementation of people and talent programs as well as consulting on key initiatives and organizational changes across EQB. The position reports to the Director, HR Business Partner.
As Associate Director, HRBP, you partner closely with business leaders to build and maintain a thorough understanding of the departmental strategy to inform what people and talent initiatives, role definition and organizational structure are necessary to drive business success. You work with the business to develop talent requirements or initiatives to support and evolve the function’s operating model, talent and culture. You understand and deliver on all HR cycles and business initiatives while supporting the Commercial leadership to deliver an exceptional employee experience.
The role works with Associate Director / Directors / VP’s across Commercial to attract, develop and retain a high performing team within a high-care, community-oriented and purpose-driven environment that “Drives change in Canadian banking to enrich people’s lives.”
The Core Responsibilities!
Partner, advise and coach leaders to diagnose, consult and problem solve on organizational structure, role definition, talent situations and challenges to maximize the effectiveness of their teams to be able to deliver on business outcomes
Design and implement talent initiatives to achieve business outcomes and optimize the employee experience
Lead on HR strategies to ensure we are fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful environment
Project manage organizational change and talent programs and initiatives within Commercial, including organizational effectiveness
Identify and validate talent gaps in the business through data and root cause analysis to build business cases demonstrating costs and ROI’s of talent recommendations
Provides proactive advice using data, insights and analytics to inform business and talent decision making
Work with business on Organization design and structure
Create and execute change management plans to socialize, educate on HR initiatives, policies and procedures for employees and managers in collaboration with Business partners
Respond to manager inquiries on a day-to-day basis by understanding the context of the situation, advising as necessary, and coaching managers to sustain change
Lead and manage the annual talent cycles (Performance, Talent Review, Compensation, etc.) for your client group
Builds knowledge of HR and industry tends to advance employee capability, develop and attract talent for the future
Be a SME and a trusted advisor for client groups on talent policies, cycles and initiatives

8+ years of progressive work experience in HR, consulting or an HRBP capacity
Ability to work strategically with leaders
Expertise in organizational design and effectiveness
Broad understanding of all HR disciplines and HR program practices
Applies understanding of business to build viable and practical solutions
Strong consulting, critical thinking and analytical capabilities
Ability to lead a program with multiple projects and complex deliverables
Confidence interacting with senior leaders, and being comfortable challenging their thinking
Confidence in communicating, influencing and coaching employees and people leaders
Strong systems thinking and the ability to identify solutions and associated impacts
Strong impact and influence skills, with the ability to flex to different communication styles
Demonstrated ability to execute quickly, effectively and consistently
Superior collaborative working abilities and experience
Action oriented, with the ability to manage and drive through ambiguity as needed
Curious mindset on use of tech and data to advance the HR function and employee experience
Experience with transformation, project management, agile methodology and change management would be an asset

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from EQ Bank’s additional office space located at 2200-25 Ontario Street, Toronto, ON.
