About the Role

Tidewater Tech is looking for an Admissions Representative who is passionate about education, motivated by results, and genuinely invested in helping students build rewarding careers in the skilled trades. This is not a passive role. It requires someone who takes initiative, stays organized under pressure, and brings consistent energy to a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.

Based at our Norfolk campus, you will be the first point of contact for prospective students exploring career training opportunities in Automotive, HVAC, and Welding. Your ability to build trust quickly, communicate clearly, and guide students confidently through the admissions process will have a direct impact on their future—and on your success. Every conversation is an opportunity to help someone take the first step toward a hands-on career in an essential industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a high volume of prospective student inquiries through phone, email, and in-person or virtual meetings — responding with speed and professionalism
  • Assess each prospective student’s goals, background, and eligibility to identify the right program fit
  • Guide students through every stage of the admissions process: inquiry, appointment setting, interview, application, documentation, and enrollment
  • Consistently meet and exceed enrollment KPIs, including outreach volume, contact-to-appointment conversion rates, application completion rates, and closing ratios
  • Proactively follow up with prospective students to keep momentum and resolve barriers to enrollment
  • Maintain accurate records of student application status and pipeline activity in the CRM
  • Represent TTT at open houses, career fairs, and community recruitment events

What We’re Looking For

The strongest candidates for this role share a few things in common: they care deeply about the people they serve, they hold themselves accountable to their numbers, and they don’t need to be managed to stay motivated. Specifically, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about education and the difference a skilled trade career can make in a person’s life
  • Brings consistent energy and a positive attitude — especially when the work gets challenging
  • Takes initiative without waiting to be asked; identifies what needs to happen and follows through
  • Has a strong track record in sales, admissions, or customer service with demonstrated results against performance metrics
  • Communicates clearly and authentically with a wide range of people
  • Stays organized, meets deadlines, and manages multiple priorities without dropping the ball

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred

Experience

  • Proven experience in sales or customer service with a record of meeting or exceeding KPIs such as conversion rates, outreach goals, and closing ratios
  • One or more years of admissions experience in a proprietary (for-profit) post-secondary educational setting preferred

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences
  • Excellent time management and the ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable learning new CRM and enrollment management systems
  • Flexible availability for occasional evenings and one Saturday per month

Work Schedule:

  • Monday - Thursday:
    • Two days: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
    • Two days: 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Rotating Saturday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

What We Offer:

The compensation for this position pays up to $30.00/hour based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 401(k) and Matching: Secure your future with our competitive retirement savings plan.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Enjoy Health, Dental, and Vision insurance to keep you and your family healthy.
  • Life Insurance: Peace of mind with life insurance options.
  • Parental Leave: Support for new parents during important life transitions.
  • Paid Time Off: Recharge with paid time off to promote work-life balance.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Access to resources for personal and professional support.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Invest in your future with financial support for further education.

We are committed to providing a rewarding compensation package that supports both your professional growth and personal well-being.
