About this Account Manager II role at Careem
Careem is building the Everything App for the greater Middle East — making it easy to move around, order food and groceries, manage payments, and more. Our purpose is simple: to simplify and improve people’s lives and build an awesome organisation that inspires.
Since 2012, Careem has enabled earnings for over 2.5 million Captains, simplified the lives of more than 70 million customers, and built a platform where the region’s best talent and entrepreneurs thrive. We operate in 70+ cities across 10 countries, from Morocco to Pakistan.
We’re now entering our next chapter — one powered by AI. We’re looking for AI talent: curious problem-solvers who know how to apply AI to build tools, automate workflows, and create real impact. Whether it’s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experience, or reimagining internal systems — we want people who can make Careem work smarter and move faster.
About the team
You will get to be part of a dynamic and autonomous team from Careem veterans to new tigers who joined on a mission to build Careem Shops — all aligned on the same values of ownership, shooting to the moon, and being of service to customers, partners, colleagues, and captains.
What you'll do
The role of Account Manager, Groceries calls for a rare combination of negotiation expertise, relationship management, business strategy, operational excellence, and problem solving. You'll own the commercial success of Careem's grocery and supermarket partners across the UAE. Other areas of responsibility include:
- Account Management: Develop strong, long-lasting relationships as the main point of contact between grocery and supermarket partners and Careem. You are responsible for leading relationships with high-profile grocery chains and supermarkets on the Careem Platform.
- Growth: Drive business growth of existing grocery accounts and improve their commercial and operational performance to ensure they succeed on Careem — from catalog depth and pricing competitiveness to availability and basket size. You also drive growth by onboarding new high-value grocery and supermarket brands to the platform.
- Analysis: Analyze account performance data — GTV, order frequency, basket size, SKU-level availability, and conversion — to quantify your actions. All decisions should be backed by data to improve the performance of key grocery accounts.
- Performance Meetings: Complete partner performance business reviews on a periodic basis and draw out next month's plans based on what was discussed, covering commercial performance, operational health, and catalog quality.
- Partner with internal teams: Work closely with internal stakeholders from Marketing to Supply Chain, Catalog, Customer Care, and Finance to ensure grocery partners meet growth objectives aligned with overall business strategy.
- Marketing and Monetization: Work closely with grocery partners to demonstrate the value of advertising and in-app promotions with Careem, with mutual goals of driving increased order volume and basket value.
What you'll need
- Previous experience in Account Management of enterprise accounts and commercial roles, ideally within grocery, FMCG, retail, or e-commerce. Startup experience in a high-growth environment preferable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills — humble, fun, and down to earth.
- Ability to establish and lead relationships with high-profile grocery and retail partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to bounce back from setbacks, and high adaptability to change.
- Natural high intellect and quickness of thought to understand complex commercial opportunities, including margin structures, promotional mechanics, and catalog dynamics specific to grocery retail.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) and related project/program management applications to drive best practice.
- You must be a self-starter with an exemplary sense of ownership, as we'll look for you to manage your own time and priorities here.
