About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Payment Operations Analyst to support and authorise global payment operations across multiple currencies, banking partners, and payment rails.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely execution of payments, maintaining operational controls, managing payment exceptions, and supporting liquidity management activities. The role requires strong operational discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced international payments environment.
In addition to day-to-day payment responsibilities, the individual will contribute to process improvements, reporting, and operational efficiency initiatives, including the use of data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies where appropriate.
What You'll Do
Payment Operations & Authorisation
- Authorise and process domestic and international payments across multiple payment rails, including SWIFT, ACH, SEPA, FPS, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, Direct Debits and cheque payments.
- Review and approve payments through various banking portals and payment platforms.
- Ensure adherence to payment cut-off times and service level agreements.
- Investigate and resolve payment exceptions, rejected transactions, recalls, and operational issues.
- Support high-value and time-critical payment processing activities.
Liquidity & Treasury Support
- Monitor account balances and funding requirements to support smooth payment execution.
- Work closely with Treasury and Finance teams to ensure adequate liquidity across currencies and banking partners.
- Assist with intercompany funding and cash movement activities where required.
Risk, Controls & Compliance
- Operate within established maker-checker controls and payment approval frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures.
- Identify and escalate operational risks, control weaknesses, or potential payment fraud concerns.
- Support audit, compliance, and governance requirements as required.
Stakeholder & Banking Relationship Management
- Act as a key operational contact for payment investigations and banking-related queries.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Compliance, Finance, Product, Technology, and Customer Operations teams.
- Support new banking integrations, payment products, and operational initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Support reporting and analysis of payment volumes, exceptions, and operational performance.
- Leverage data, automation, and emerging AI tools to improve operational effectiveness and controls.
What You’ll Need
- 4–7 years' experience in Payment Operations, Banking Operations, Treasury Operations, or Financial Services.
- Strong understanding of cross-border and multi-currency payment processing.
- Experience working with payment approvals and banking platforms.
- Good understanding of payment rails including SWIFT, ACH, SEPA, FPS, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS and Direct Debits.
- Experience managing payment exceptions and operational investigations.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and operational discipline.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally if required.
- Professional qualifications in Payments, Treasury, Banking, or Financial Services would be advantageous.
Bonus
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Omni, or similar reporting and analytics platforms.
- Exposure to automation, workflow tools, and AI-enabled operational processes.
- Experience within FinTech, FX, Payments, Banking, or Treasury environments.
- Experience supporting global operations across multiple jurisdictions.
