Backend Engineer – VC-Backed Startup | Riyadh, KSA

A high-potential capital markets firm is being established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a strong focus on leveraging technology to unlock financing for growing companies in the real estate sector. Backed by prominent regional VCs and led by an accomplished founding team and board, the firm is targeting a key hire to build and scale its technology infrastructure.

Role Overview:

The Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems to power the firm’s fintech infrastructure. The role involves building APIs, managing databases, and deploying cloud-native applications, with a hands-on approach to development and experimentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services using .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core) and Entity Framework Core
• Design and document robust RESTful APIs (including versioning and Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests
• Follow best practices in version control (Git) and secure, scalable development
• Collaborate closely with product and investment teams to align tech with business needs

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 1–3+ years of experience in backend development or a strong technical portfolio
• Proficiency in .NET, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native environments
• Basic understanding of Docker, AWS, and CI/CD workflows
• Passion for AI technologies and an eagerness to experiment and apply them in production
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including testing and security
• Startup mindset with the ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments
• Bonus if experienced in fintech, or have built in early-stage startups
