Summary
Our client is seeking a Lead Analyst, Geospatial Data to support project originators, developers, compliance analysts, and other business stakeholders by delivering high-quality GIS data solutions that drive informed decision-making. This role will lead the development and enhancement of geospatial data products, improve GIS workflows, and ensure the accuracy and accessibility of critical data supporting utility-scale and distributed energy projects.
The ideal candidate is an experienced GIS professional with strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for building scalable geospatial solutions that create business impact.
Responsibilities
- Own the development, delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of geospatial data products, including maps, reusable layers, dashboards, analyses, and other GIS assets.
- Gather business requirements, prioritize initiatives, and manage the lifecycle of geospatial data products.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for GIS data and provide strategic insights to support business decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes through geospatial analytics and data-driven recommendations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive GIS documentation and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Write user stories and requirements for data engineering teams while supporting testing, quality assurance, and data quality monitoring.
- Promote data literacy and self-service by providing training, guidance, and support to business users.
- Monitor adoption and usage of GIS products to drive continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and scientists using agile methodologies to deliver scalable data solutions.
- Participate in peer reviews and contribute to knowledge sharing across the data team.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to influence the broader data strategy and roadmap.
- Define and measure key performance objectives (OKRs) to evaluate business impact and data initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- 5–7 years of experience as a Geospatial Data Analyst or in a similar GIS-focused role supporting business stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS, Prospect, Paces, or similar GIS platforms.
- Experience working with SQL and Business Intelligence tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Experience collaborating with data engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, drive data quality, and take ownership of projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify root causes, develop creative solutions, and deliver measurable business value.
- Eagerness to understand business operations and apply data insights to support strategic decision-making.
