Jobs Companies Solance Senior QA Tester

About this Senior QA Tester role at Solance

Solance · Onsite · Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland

Solance is the new tier in finance. We're a bold new player, specialised in helping clients with complex corporate structures access the kind of financial services they've always struggled to get. Think UBS's service DNA spliced with Revolut's tech genius; Solance is that hybrid, engineered for the best client experience you've ever had.

Our EMI license is in progress, and we're gearing up for launch end of Q3, 2026. We are building Solance from scratch: processes, culture, products, and a brand that sets a whole new standard. If you're ambitious, hungry, and ready to step into a key role where you will help shape our future success, this could be the opportunity for you.

As part of this journey, we're searching for a Senior QA Manual Tester (aka 'the one who finds it before our clients do'), someone who treats every payment flow as guilty until proven innocent. You bring deep expertise in payments and FX, along with a broader fintech toolkit spanning onboarding, operational tasks, cards, and mobile pay. You know that in a payments business the difference between "it works" and "it works every single time" is the whole game, and you take quiet pride in being the person who spots the edge case everyone else missed.

You'll own end-to-end manual testing across our payments infrastructure, act as the quality champion across product and engineering, and put AI tooling to work building scalable test knowledge assets that lift the standard for the entire organisation, not just the next release.

You'll work shoulder to shoulder with product, engineering, operations, and compliance to make sure every platform flow and capability is tested to a standard worthy of our obligations under CBI, DORA, GDPR, ISO 27001, and Payment and Mastercard scheme requirements. Regulators, partners, and clients all expect us to get this right the first time; your job is to make sure we do.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manual QA experience in a fintech, payments, or banking environment.
  • Demonstrable hands-on testing experience across at least three of: SEPA CT/DD, SWIFT (MT or MX), FPS, BACS, CHAPS, SPEI, TARGET2, or equivalent payment rail.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging and legacy payment message formats (MT103, MT202, pain.001/002/008).
  • Proven experience testing FX or multi-currency payment products.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to explain complex payment behaviours clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of coaching developers and/or product managers to improve test plan quality and acceptance criteria.
  • Active use of AI tools (LLMs, AI writing assistants, or AI-augmented test tooling) to build knowledge bases or generate test artefacts.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with strong story-level QA engagement.
  • Proficiency in defect management tools (JIRA or equivalent) and test case management platforms.

It would even be better if you also have:

  • Experience in a CBI-regulated EMI, PI, or equivalent EU/UK regulated payments business.
  • Familiarity with DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) obligations and how QA contributes to resilience testing evidence.
  • Exposure to card scheme testing (Mastercard or Visa), including 3DS flows, tokenisation (MDES/VTS), and card authorisation pathways.
  • Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST) for payment API validation.
  • Knowledge of sanction screening, AML transaction monitoring, or compliance rule engine testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Payments Testing

  • Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive manual test cases for all Solance Platform workflows and capabilities including core payment rails: SEPA Credit Transfer, SEPA Direct Debit, SWIFT (MT/MX), Faster Payments Service (FPS), BACS, CHAPS, and card scheme flows.
  • Own test coverage for FX payments including spot conversions, multi-currency payment reconciliations, and currency pair edge cases.
  • Test end-to-end payment lifecycle: initiation, authorisation, clearing, settlement, exception handling, and reconciliation.
  • Validate messaging schemas (ISO 20022, MT103/MT202, pain.001/002/008) and ensure field-level accuracy across payment instructions.
  • Test sanction screening, AML flag behaviour, and compliance rule engines in integration with third-party vendors.
  • Conduct exploratory testing on new payment product features and regulatory-driven changes.

FX & Multi-Currency

  • Test FX rate application, spread logic, and currency conversion accuracy across EUR, GBP, and additional currency pairs.
  • Validate multi-currency ledger balances, funding flows, and settlement currency alignment.
  • Test FX-related edge cases: rate expiry, partial fills, rejected conversions, and fallback handling.

Coaching & Knowledge Sharing

  • Act as the primary QA authority for product managers and developers, reviewing user stories, acceptance criteria, and specifications for testability before development begins.
  • Coach engineers and product team members to write strong, risk-based acceptance criteria and test plans, embedding quality thinking earlier in the SDLC.
  • Run test planning workshops and story-level QA reviews as part of sprint ceremonies.
  • Produce and maintain test strategy documentation, defect taxonomies, and payment-domain test pattern libraries for shared team use.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex payment defects, root cause analysis, and regression scope decisions.

AI-Augmented QA

  • Use AI tools (including our approved LLMs) to accelerate test case generation, edge case identification, and structured documentation of domain knowledge.
  • Build and continually enhance an AI-assisted Solance QA knowledge base covering payment rail rules, scheme regulations, and defect patterns.
  • Create pragmatic, reusable test plan templates using AI tooling to support consistent quality standards across parallel workstreams.
  • Work with Tech and Product team members to regularly evaluate and recommend emerging AI-assisted testing tooling to improve coverage and reduce manual effort over time.

Process & Governance

  • Maintain defect tracking with high-quality reproduction steps, severity classification, and business impact assessment.
  • Contribute to UAT planning and execution alongside product stakeholders, ensuring sign-off criteria are clearly defined and met.
  • Support DORA-aligned incident reviews by providing testing context, gap analysis, and recommended QA controls.
  • Ensure test artefacts meet audit readiness standards for CBI regulatory examinations and external audits.
  • Measure and report on Solance Platform quality metrics across QA, Staging/UAT and Production environments
