About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Firewall Security Engineer to join our Security team in Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing firewall and network security solutions that protect critical enterprise environments. This role requires hands-on expertise across next-generation firewall technologies, zero-trust architectures, microsegmentation, web application security, and secure remote access platforms.
The ideal candidate is passionate about cybersecurity, has strong troubleshooting capabilities, and can collaborate effectively with global teams while communicating fluently in both English and Spanish.
Essential Job Functions
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise firewall infrastructures, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Check Point solutions.
- Monitor firewall performance, security events, and audit logs to identify, investigate, and respond to security incidents.
- Implement and maintain firewall rules, security policies, and access control lists (ACLs) in accordance with organizational and customer requirements.
- Support deployment, administration, tuning, and maintenance of Prisma Access solutions to enable secure remote connectivity through zero-trust access controls and user-based security policies.
- Implement and manage Akamai Guardicore microsegmentation solutions to strengthen network segmentation and reduce lateral movement risks.
- Administer, optimize, and maintain Web Application Firewall (WAF) technologies such as Cloudflare, Imperva, or similar platforms to protect web applications against application-layer threats and unauthorized access.
- Perform firewall rule reviews, recertification activities, compliance assessments, and security audits.
- Collaborate with network, security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to integrate security controls into enterprise environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve firewall, connectivity, VPN, segmentation, and application security issues while minimizing business impact.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and disaster recovery planning activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and change records.
- Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, firewall technologies, and industry best practices, recommending continuous improvements.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience administering Web Application Firewalls (WAF), such as Cloudflare, Imperva, F5, or equivalent technologies.
- Proven experience as a Firewall Engineer, Network Security Engineer, or Cybersecurity Engineer.
- Strong hands-on expertise with one or more of the following platforms:
- Palo Alto Networks
- Cisco ASA / Firepower
- Fortinet FortiGate
- Check Point
- Experience managing VPN technologies, IDS/IPS solutions, and core networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and routing concepts.
- Experience supporting Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and secure remote access solutions.
- Experience implementing and managing microsegmentation solutions, preferably Akamai Guardicore.
- Ability to analyze security logs, investigate alerts, and perform security troubleshooting activities.
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS, CIS Controls, or similar.
- Experience working in enterprise, managed security services, or global customer environments.
- Security certifications are highly desirable, including:
- CISSP
- CCNP Security
- Palo Alto PCNSE
- Fortinet NSE
- Check Point CCSA/CCSE
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
- Experience supporting cloud security environments is considered a plus.
