Job Description:

This role requires Reliability Status Clearance. In addition to a law enforcement inquiry and a credit check, as part of your application, the Government of Canada will ask if you lived or travelled outside of Canada for 6-consecutive months during the last 5 years, and you must account for all activities during this time. Important: Obtaining Reliability Status Clearance within a reasonable amount of time is a condition required to start employment for this role at Sun Life.

Junior Security Data Analyst role is responsible for supporting Security analytics team with data processing, analysis and visualization. The role focuses on learning and supporting AWS infrastructure while implementing data governance and data quality standards across pipelines to identify anomalies and detect malicious activities.

Preferred skills:

• Programming with SQL and/or Python. Any knowledge of AWS technologies such as Glue, RedShift, Lambda, EC2 etc is a BIG Plus
• Excellent MS Excel and PowerPoint skills for data manipulation, charts and presentations.
• Knowledge in database technologies and programming languages
• A demonstrated interest in cyber security.
• Confidence of positioning thoughts with seasoned data engineers and data scientists

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary or equivalent degree with a focus (i.e. major) on one of the following:
  • Computer Science with supporting education or experience in business management.
  • Business Management, with supporting education or experience in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • A graduation date of April 2027 or later.

Responsibilities:

The Junior Security Analyst’s (co-op) main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Data Governance Support– Support in maintaining the health of Security Analytics AWS environment by finding ways to enhance the data quality and documentation of tables, processes and procedures.
• Data Engineering Support – Support and drive data tagging on historical data to support various data and analytics use cases and proof of concepts
• POCs – Provide support on POCs of new technology on cloud and tools that can bring speed to Data Engineering and Data pipelines. Minimal code to no code concepts
• Collaboration – Work collaboratively with multiple technology teams within security, data & analytics, cloud and architecture teams to outline initiatives and project outcomes.  

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for.

Eligible Sun Life employees for various Campus Graduate programs will also participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance
