About The Role
We are looking for a technically deep Senior Solutions Engineer to support our Diversified business - the consulting and professional services firms, financial services and investment teams, healthcare IT and technology companies, staffing organizations, and other businesses that serve, sell into, or invest in the healthcare market.
What makes this book of business interesting is that no two clients ask the same question, and there is rarely a standard deliverable waiting on the shelf, so you will build it. Because our clients approach healthcare from every angle, this role calls for a working command of the US healthcare ecosystem as a whole rather than fluency in a single corner of it. The ideal candidate blends technical skill, sales acumen, and strong knowledge of data in the healthcare industry.
You will help Sales land new clients and grow existing business. The core responsibilities of the position are to:
- drive revenue through compelling demonstrations and an understanding of our clients' use cases
- prove the accuracy and value of Definitive Healthcare's data assets, primarily using SQL
- partner with Sales Executives as a subject matter expert
If you are, or want to be, a healthcare data geek who enjoys directly interfacing with clients, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Sales: Work alongside Sales Executives throughout the opportunity lifecycle, providing the analytic support that moves deals from interest to closure.
- Discovery and requirements: Get to the real question underneath the stated request. Collaborate with client stakeholders to translate ambiguous business problems into detailed, documented requirements you can build against.
- Demonstration: Deliver compelling, tailored demonstrations of Definitive Healthcare products that connect directly to the client's use case.
- Data proof: Prove the accuracy, depth, and value of our healthcare data assets. Quantify, measure, and analyze metrics across our data sets, and analyze for outliers and trends.
- Custom analysis: Solve client business needs for which no standard deliverable exists. Develop custom data extracts using SQL and other analytic tools, work from report specifications to ensure extracts are delivered to expectations and recommend modifications that increase the client's return on the data.
- Scoping and Statements of Work: Validate claims, procedure, and entity volumes up front to confirm the effort will produce a worthwhile result, then translate requirements into well-structured Statements of Work with clear scope, deliverables, timelines, and cost estimation.
- Executive presence: Present findings and analysis to customers and prospects, in person and virtually, with the ability to command a room and hold a technical conversation and a business conversation in the same meeting.
- Escalations and conflict resolution: Coordinate the appropriate internal parties when client issues arise and stay engaged through resolution, handling competing expectations with diplomacy and working toward solutions that leave the relationship stronger.
- Market insights: Keep clients current on industry trends, best practices, and relevant product developments, positioning Definitive Healthcare as a trusted advisor rather than a vendor.
- Thought leadership: Serve as a domain voice internally and externally, keeping clients current on industry trends, best practices, and relevant product developments, and applying healthcare commercial intelligence to complex business problems.
- Voice of the customer: Bring field insight back to Product and Data teams to inform where our assets and capabilities go next.
What You'll Bring
- College degree or similar real-world experience, ideally in Computer Science, Data Science, Medical Informatics, Economics, or Math
- Knowledge of or experience in medical terminology (DRG, ICD, HCPCS/CPT, NDC)
- Very strong expertise in SQL (Databricks preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in Medicare and/or Commercial Medical Claims and Prescription Claims data
- 2-10 years of complex data management responsibilities (Big data experience a plus)
- 2-10 years of experience quantifying and analyzing healthcare performance metrics
- Advanced Excel skills, plus data visualization experience in tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik
- The ability to communicate the "so what?", turning an analysis into a recommendation a business audience can use
- Comfort presenting technical topics to non-technical stakeholders, virtually and in person
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple engagements with minimal supervision
- Proven success working both independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional critical thinking, written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong understanding of emerging AI technologies and prompt engineering, with the ability to translate AI-generated output into actionable insights.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Prior Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or presales experience
- Experience selling into or serving consulting, financial services, healthcare IT, staffing, or other organizations that operate around the healthcare market
- Experience analyzing healthcare cost and utilization trends
- Experience with EMR/EHR data such as Epic or Cerner
- Programming experience in Python or R
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce
- Experience developing Statements of Work or scoping custom analytics engagements
